We took our 4yo for the day cruise and dolphin feeding. The trip to the island was a glimpse of what was to come, with half the boat lining up at the bar at 10am. Once on the island we were shunted along and met with a tour guide, who gave us vague details of what was to come, we spent the day on the beach and on a fish feeding cruise, which was uneventful, but fun.
Unfortunately, the dolphin feeding only happens at 730pm, which too late for our little one, so we missed it in favour of a trip home early. When we tried to board the earlier ferry, we were lectured by the older man at the ticket booth about how we are supposed to wait until 8pm to board.
The trip back was full of very drunk people from a work Xmas party, which made for a colorful experience.

We took the 7.30 ferry to Tangalooma, did the ATV activity in the morning. That was really good fun! I would highly recommend that! We wore our own shoes but the ATV tour does provide you with some shoes if you happen to be wearing flip flops. The weather was perfect so spent some time chilling at the beach!
The main course was the dolphin feeding in the EVENING (6.30pm after sunset). Apparently that's when they dolphines know its their food time. The feeding takes a few minutes and immediately after everyone have to board the ferry right after. I'd recommend bringing some spare clothes to change on the ferry as you would be cold and soaked after getting into the water.
Overall, a very happy and memorable experience for my wife and I.

Although the staff were lovely and the island is beautiful with lots of fun activities. No where does it indicate that you get back to Brisbane at 9:30pm!

Poorly run and mismanaged. Customer service very unhelpful. Almost to the point of being cruel. When i called to see if i could move our day trip over one day because of bad weather reservation specialist Jenny, was very condescending and cruel. She basically said that she could do it. But she won't. Mind you were travelling with an infant and two elderly people, so bad weather isn't as easy to just put up with. We are from out of country so we decided to go anyway. Because the tickets were very expensive.
We booked two for the ATV and two for the glass bottom boat. We chose the glass bottom boat for my in laws who are elderly because we were told it would be a dry tour. But they informed us upon check in that they would have to wade waist high into the ocean carrying an infant to board the boat. The sea was also rough that day and it was raining and cold. We asked if there was any alternatives or if we could get a refund for that portion of the tour. They refused. It was honestly the worst customer service experience I have ever experience. Just complete lack of caring for another human being.
We also booked the dolphin feeding which we didn't realize would be at night, it was cold and raining all day. But we were excited for the dolphin feeding so we waited an extra 3 hours on the island, when there really wasn't much to do because of the weather.
The dolphin feeding is very poorly organized. They have it at night and right before you board the boat. They make you walk waist deep into the ocean thats freezing cold and then immediately you board the ferry that takes 1.5 hours to get back to Brisbane and is air conditioned. You don't have time to change or shower, so it's really just a miserable experience. The staff were basically indifferent and hurry you so you get about 30 secs of time with the dolphin and one fish to feed them.
Food on the island was good.
We've traveled all over the world and we've done a ton of day trips like this. This was honestly the worst experience I have ever had. All around poorly managed. Staff members are nasty when even just showing a slight bit of compassion or empathy can go a long way. I would never even entertain the idea of wasting money with this tour ever again. I honestly wish I never booked it. We have limited time in each place we visit and this was a miserable massive waste of a day.

We first met Tinkerbell and Rani in the early 90s, and have watched this amazing pod of dolphins grow and develop over the years. Now there is also Storm and the very young and playful Calypso, among others. We absolutely love their playful, interactive nature's, and really enjoyed feeding Storm on Saturday evening. He is a really well behaved calf, Tinkerbell. Well done. We chose the 1.30 snorkeling trip to the wrecks as the add on, and noted that the fish life is extremely vibrant and the coral is flourishing. Absolutely fantastic day. The pelican committee welcome committee was also fun, as was the curlew waiting to get into the cafe.

My partner and I went on the 15th of November and paid for the Premium Dolphin Feeding package with the Snorkeling included.
Snorkeling and relaxing on the beach was great, until the dolphin feeding. We waited all day at the island in anticipation of the dolphin feeding. We checked in at approximately 2pm with resort staff for the experience. We were told at that time to meet at 7pm at the eco centre for the in-water dolphin feeding.
The (predicted) wind picked up in the evening, so feeding had to be done from the jetty, which was fine and understandably unavoidable. The first issue was that there was no communication about this change of plans before OR at the designated time of meeting. There were no staff available at the front of the eco centre at the designated time of meeting. Instead there was a very large group of people on the jetty. The jetty was being shared with people waiting to board the returning boat, plus a large group of Amway guests. These people clogged the dolphin feeding area and caused a claustrophobic environment for all around. The staff did nothing to prevent this large group of people forming. We waited for half an hour trying to understand what was going on.
Eventually some direction was given by staff, saying that English speaking and non english speaking persons needed to separate, and that noone was allowed to get on the boat. This caused anger and did not resolve the congestion in any way, as none was listening by this time, and half of the guests did not speak english, so they made no effort to clear the way.
For the people who paid for the dolphin feeding AND a free photo, we were ushered through the pack of people to throw 2 bits of bait off of the jetty to the dolphins, before being rushed back to the crowd to wait at the back of the huge line for boat boarding. No photo was given, the experience was a huge disappointment and huge stress and anxiety was caused by the lack of organisation from the resort staff.
This whole experience, that started as a good day ended in a huge upset. It was not worth the "premium" price tag of $199 per person.
We would like to be contacted in regards to a partial refund.

Enjoyed the ferry trip to the island ... the Captain tried to give a bit of commentary but was drowned out by the passengers and kids. The island is very beautiful but packed with people .... and I mean packed. The eating area is really just like a school canteen (very poor). For me, the place seems like it is run by youngsters who just dont have the experience to run large amounts of people. The dolphin feeding was supposed to be the highlight and was the only thing stopping us leaving early. We should have left .... seeing the dolphins playing ahead of the feeding was special, then you have to wait until it’s dark and cold before the carnage begins ... the whole island descends on the beach and the youngsters have no control .... at this stage we just wanted to go home. You get to throw one fish off the jetty ... wow ??! This whole event needs a rethink and should be scrapped until they can come up with a system where it is a more enjoyable experience. I could go on about other stuff we saw, but just be warned if you book this trip, there a lots of people, lots of kids, bad organisation, lots of hanging around. The ferry back can be rough so if you get sea sick I would give this trip a miss. Never Again !!

Due to strong wind and high waves we was not be able to feed dolphins unfortunately, but Moreton Island is one of the beautiful places on Earth. Endless sand beach, bush, ocean, kookaburras, pelicans - it was great day!

Pre book your chosen activity as soon as you book your trip! Note - Reception is only open between 8.30 a.m. & 5 p.m. Arrive @ 6 a.m. if you have luggage or 6:30 a.m. if you're just going over for the day. $15/day Parking in the locked compound or free outside on the dirt patch (NOT on the yellow lines). We chose the 7 a.m. Flyer and had a smooth trip over, enjoying the sights and commentary on the way. Used our $20 voucher towards the ($30) Buffet Breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed the fare. Found a spot on the beach to soak up the sun and forayed into the water for awhile. Bought some seafood for a light lunch and then off to a shady spot on the grass for a nanna nap, whilst waiting for our Snorkelling Tour to start @ 1.45 p.m. (Be a bit early to sort out your wetsuit, fins and snorkel.) Lost about 30 minutes by the time all four groups were kitted out, run through the safety chats and able to board the boat! Reasonably clear water, loads of fish and coral along the wrecks. (Afterwards we all agreed that there should have been a greater gap between each of the groups as we kept bashing into each other, which put a dampener on the experience.) Had a hoot beetling along with the Sea Scooters. Back on land and its a quick shower before jumping in the pool, then poolside in the shade to rest. Off to the stands for us (bag minding & photographs) before 6.30 p.m., whilst the others queued up where the buckets were sitting in front of the beach. Absolutely wonderful to see the Dolphins up close. The others had a great time being led out with their fish, then feeding Tinkerbell. Caught the last boat out @ ~7 p.m. and enjoyed the lights as we approached land. Huge day overall, but excellent day out and fantastic fun for our UK friends. (Thank you to all staff for a great day out.)

Hi Alison- just bathers and a t shirt
The snorkeling trip includes provision of a wetsuit, mask, snorkel and flippers. When dolphin feeding you will get wet up to your waist.

Is there a difference between the full day dolphin feeding tour that you book through the tangalooma website for $199 and the tour you book through the viator or getyourguide website which is both about $140? I want to make sure I get the best deal and am willing to pay the higher price through Tangalooma if there is actually a difference that is worth it. Thanks

I don’t believe there is a difference. We were given the VIP treatment and paid the lower price.

How do I get more info on the difference btwn the "snorkel tour" and the "marine discovery tour"? Additionally, the snorkeling of the sunken ships - is that separate? Or is it an activity you can do after lunch on the island? I'm confused about these 2 specifics. One more thing - 7AM or 10AM - do they leave Brisbane at that hour? And then the return is after dolphin feeding @ 7:30PM 'ish? Thank you!

24 hours? we depart from 7am , stay at the island until 7 pm, isn't that 12 hours ?
we want to check out the hotel at Brisbane, take this tour and go to check in at a hotel in Gold Coast.
I need to know if I check out in the morning and take the 7am ferry, then what time will I check in at a Gold Coast hotel.

Will you join the dolphin feeding? If yes, you might need to late check in at Gold Coast, 8:30pm back to the Brisbane ferry pier and take 1 hr to drive to Gold Coast, that means the check in time at Gold Coast will be around 10pm
