The Metro goes to Arlington Cemetery or from the Lincoln Memorial you can walk over the bridge. There is no admission charge but if you want a bus to take you around it was 19 or maybe 20 dollars per person. The cemetery is huge so I don't know how long it might take to walk it. The bus stopped at about six different places and you could hop off and get another bus to the next one. There was a live commentary on the bus as it went around which was interesting. We were interested in the grave of JFK. There is a Changing of the guard on the hour at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It was interesting to visit but I think the bus is a little expensive but you probably need it as the cemetery is so big.

It was a great place to visit! The park ranger at the Lee house was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humour. Will do it again!

Tour guides speak at a rapid pace that is hard to follow and have very little personality. The busses. An only seat about 25-30 folks but at the busy stops there will be 40-50 people waiting. With the 15 minute schedule, you could be waiting 30 minutes for a bus to take you to the next stop. We chose to walk from the tomb of the unknown soldier back to the entrance and got there faster than the bus.
If you are healthy and enjoy exercise, skip the bus “tour” and walk at your own pace.

The tour was well done and informative, the guides really knew the history of the cemetery well. It was sobering and impressive. We were thankful we didn’t try to walk it—the place is huge. We wish there were more trains at the end of the day as it took a while to exit since so many left at the same time.

Arlington National Cemetery is beautiful and we enjoyed the changing of the guard. It was really nice to be able to ride the tram instead of having to walk through the very large property. It was interesting to hear about different people who are laid to rest there. I give the tram ride a 4 star instead of 5 because the sound system wasn't awesome and it was sometimes hard to hear. Also, the guides spoke pretty quickly. I know they've done these tours a million times, but it was hard to spot the gravesite and listen to what they said , especially because the tram didn't slow down at all and because the sound system wasn't great. I think with a few little adjustments, this could be a five star experience.

A nice way to visit the various parts of the cemetery. Ideally, allow up to three hours for a visit. The vehicles were comfortable and afforded great viewing opportunities. The Arlington house was particularly interesting, since it was something we had not known about. We were surprised to learn that it was owned by the family of Robert E. Lee before the civil war. As expected, we thoroughly enjoyed the visits to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the burial site of President Kennedy with the eternal flame. The parking at Arlington National Cemetery was convenient and plentiful. We also enjoyed the commentary by the live guide on each vehicle. although a couple of them spoke in such a way that we had difficulty comprehending their speech. Overall. a great way to visit this solemn and beautiful place.

I was not impressed with the narration in the shuttles. The people narrating sounded like they were talking about a “fun / happy” event instead of respecting the hallowed grounds it is

The trolly is the best way to go. We rode a complete cycle on the trolly and then rode a second time and stopped at individual grave sights and memorials. The trolly guides were very informative with specifics about notables buried there. All of the employees there were friendly and very helpful.

Great tour and time to wonder if you fancy walking and remembering in your own time ...
Can't believe how big the site was , graves go on it the distance...

No one bothered to tell visitors waiting for the tram that there was a line….. then scolded everyone trying to board the tram for not “staying in line “. It was all very disorganized and haphazard. Also, when NO handicapped persons get on the tram- let someone else sit in those seats instead of pulling g away with empty seats!

Is there a place to park when we get to the welcome center. Also is there a fee to take the hop -on-hop-off and another fee to enter the cemetery or are they all inclusive. What are the fees for 2 adult seniors.

Yes there’s a large parking lot at Arlington National Cemetery. Uber service is easy to and from as well. They’re well organized. The ticket for the hop on hop off is all inclusive. Don’t know exactly the pricing for seniors because we had ten family members of every age.

Hello, We want to visit the ANC when we come to DC in June 2022. Are there two different charges for visiting the cemetery, one fee for the entrance and another fee for the tour? Or is this trolley tour included in the entrance fee? Thanks, Nicolette

Agree - the entrance to the cemetery was free. There is only a fee if you choose to use the hop on/hop off trolley.
Where would we catch this tour and what times?

I took the tram in Arlington National Cemetery in July. I caught the first tram at 8:30 am and I arrived at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier before 9 am in time for the changing of the guard. You can buy the tram tickets online or in the visitors center. You board the tram outside the visitors center. I do not remember how often they run. After I arrived at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier I decided to walk the rest of the time.
The site states a couple hours and you see the sites but also says 30 min duration ? Please advise

It's hop-on hop-off, so it can take more time if you plan on getting off. If you are staying on the whole time, it's a fairly short tour.
Can I get on the tour at the Arlington National Cemetery Visitor Center, or must it be at one of the 6 stops?
