After making Stacy crazy with my requests for more time out of the car, we had a great day with Lexi that combined all the sites with three hikes during our long day. Lexi was able to get us in and out of parking lots like a pro and to explain about all the geothermal sights along the way. Lunch and breakfast were extra bonuses. Highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Jackson with limited time. Our family had a GREAT day.

Do not book with anyone else!
We could not have had a better experience! Staci knew everything about the park and shared several personal experiences to make it more enjoyable. He knew all the best spots, what to do and what not to do, and showed us places we would have never seen on our own. When I return, I will definitely book again with Obsidian.

We had a great day on our tour . Jordan our guide was very knowledgeable and engaging and we covered every thing we had hoped for . old faithful was a highlight and he took great care to ensure we did not miss the eruption despite traffic issues . He was also very helpful in dropping us off in suitable areas as my husband could not walk as far as usual, and this meant he missed very little. Whilst a long day it flew by and we arrive back at our hotel with lots of recommendations for the future. Thankyou Jordan.

awesome tour of Yellowstone! Our tour guide, Ted Jackson, was so knowledgeable and informative. We learned so much and were able to visit the best overlooks and most interesting sites. This was an all day tour and we covered a lot of ground. If you want to see the most interesting areas of Yellowstone I highly recommend this tour! Ask for Ted - he is great!

For those who value convenience and informative guide, this is the perfect travel. Purchased this tour via TRIPADVISOR. I appreciate the flexibility for me to book and cancel then book once more. Shopping dilemma when opting for the best tour.
I supposed we lucked out as we signed up for the tour and had the van and guide to ourselves. It became a private tour and our guide, ITAE, is awesome. We gave the liberty and trusted him to take us where the best spots are. The hubby ecstatic from not being the driver 😊. Itae took us to Yellowstone lower loop via Grand Teton.
The Ride – Itae drove safely and comfortable. Nice chevy suburban, six passengers, and as I’ve mentioned, we had it all to ourselves. We were offered snacks and water regularly which was a pleasant gesture even though it was included with the tour cost. He is informative and knowledgeable. Learned a lot from our conversations. Just hope I retain it, lol. It was our first time to Grand Teton/Yellowstone, not knowing anything, so he made sure we had a great time.
The Tour - via Grand Teton took us to Mormon Row - A little village of the first Mormon settlers who travelled all the way from Utah. We stopped by the Jackson Lake spot, picturesque, very beautiful. An overlook of the Teton peak, kind of snow-capped a little bit and the calm lake on an early sunrise – breathtaking! Of course, Old Faithful ever reliable spewed out steam 20 minutes early than scheduled. It wasn’t as faithful with its time when we arrived. Luckily, we still witnessed it. Itae had mentioned it has never been that early. Fabulous sight. Mesmerizing as well, just stand there and be amazed. The place had so many geysers. It’s like earth is smoking continuously. On our way to Grand Prismatic, stopped by excelsior geyser crater, for me, another massive geyser to awe at. Now, GP is my favorite. Itae gave us the option to wither do an uphill 2-mile hike all the way for the overlook or do the ground view. Chose the ground view as my right foot has taken a beating walking during our entire 5-day tour. No regrets, I truly enjoyed the up-close view of the bacterial mats the geyser continually is creating. It is captivating. I found myself staring at it joyfully. The turquoise pool is enchanting as well. A few more minutes’ drive and we were gawking over the river of Yellowstone. Itae took us the beginning and end spot of the river. Another breathtaking place. Timely, a rainbow showed up at the end of the river falls and it was such a magical view. The canyon edges, the colors of it, so beautiful. Stayed and stared, I had to be pulled out from the view. We also did the Jenny Lake, Itae took us to the Yellowstone Lakeview Hotel. Vintage and historical and was told most of the upper echelon population will book for R&R. I may not have remembered everything as we went to more than what I’ve mentioned in my review. It was a full day, and we would not have been able to maximize the places to see if it had not been guided. No wasted time. I truly appreciate this tour and the key is to have a very wonderful tour guide. Thank you Itae!

It was a fantastic experience from beginning to end. First, I had the pleasure of working with Stacy to plan and organize our entire trip to Jackson Hole. We booked the private tour of Yellowstone and the tour of Grand Teton. He gave great ideas for activities for the entire week. Our guide Ted did a great job of informing us about what we were seeing and went out of his way to ensure a memorable experience. He obviously loves his job. Also, working with Lisa was a positive experience. She was always available to help with questions and concerns. This group made our Jackson Hole vacation one my family will always remember.

I have hired guides many times, and Obsidian Expeditions was as good as any I've had in the past, all over the world. Our guide, Stacy Noland was PERFECT in every respect. He is extremely knowledgeable about everything related to this tour. This group picks you up early and has warm breakfast sandwiches (which you select in advance on line) waiting in the van, so you can get to the best locations during that all important first hour, for the best wildlife opportunities. And his lunch was fantastic. He was able to take us places to see a grizzly bear, black bear, moose, elk, bison, pronghorn, mule deer, and two wolves including a huge black wolf that we all thought was a bear, until it lifted its head....very cool! Obsidian Expeditions is the best! These guys know so many important history and facts about these tours, and all of the geology, and make the tours very exciting.

Discovery Channel experience with Obsidian Cliff Tours and Stacy Nolan!
October 7th
Husband and I did a one-day private tour of Yellowstone. Stacy contacted me a few weeks prior to tour to understand our goals for the day - wild life spotting, hiking, main tourist attractions, photography, etc. We wanted to see wildlife and fit in some of the tourist areas if time allowed.
Stacy picked us up at our hotel in West Yellowstone (they can pick up from most areas near the Park) at 7:30 with awesome breakfast sandwiches and juice to eat on our drive out to Lamar Valley (I think it was about 1.5 hours). I’m not a breakfast sandwich person but these were really good, on fluffy English muffins. We also ate lunch in the van to save time.
Several things that stand out about Obsidian Cliff Tours and Stacy:
Covid awareness - van was clean and Stacy wore mask in the van (not the case with other tours we took). Additionally, Stacy reminded us to not touch railings and put masks on when we were in the midst of other tourists. Fortunately this didn’t occur often as Stacy took a route that was opposite to that followed by most park visitors,
Stacy has a radio to listen to park rangers dealing with animals on the road and wandering near tourists. He also speaks to his guides and other guide companies to learn where recent wildlife have been hanging out. As well, he knows animals’ favorite hangouts from his many years of experience. As a result, we saw a lot of wildlife, including bison, elk, wolves, pronghorns and coyotes. The only animal we missed were bears. We were actually in a bison stampede! Stacy definitely fulfilled our request to see wildlife!
I greatly appreciated Stacy stopping at the best bathrooms in the park (large, clean, regularly maintained, with running water)!
I felt very safe with Stacy’s driving and safety precautions when we were in the woods.
Stacy regularly took photos and videos of the highlights of the day and forwarded them to us. Great photos for our album. He even shared photos of bears that he had seen a few days earlier.
Omg, so much knowledge about the animals, the geology, ecological efforts and the Park’s history. For example, we learned why many dead trees are white at the bottom of the trunk (the Bobby socks effect), why large bison herds are comprised of mostly females, how views on wildfires are changing, and so much more. I highly recommend you take the tour to find out the answers these questions and many more.
Stacy is a great story teller about events that have taken place in the park and on his past tours. He kept us wanting more.
The tour lasted nearly 12 hours and I realized the following day, when I looked at the map, that we had covered the entire Park, including the major tourist sites with the exception of Ol’ Faithful and the Prismatic spring. I specifically asked Stacy to skip these since we could easily view those on our own. We covered more ground than we ever would have on our own!

Your play by play review of our tour would make Tony Romo blush. I loved showing you two around the Park.
Come back for a two-day tour next summer so that I can show you some of my favorite places to hike in Yellowstone too.

We just went on 2 tours with Obsidian. Day tour of Yellowstone and Teton Sunset tour. We lucked out by getting Sarah on both tours. She was very knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and engaging. Thoroughly enjoyed both tours and saw everything as promised. In Yellowstone saw all the major and some minor sights in a very timely manner. She knew how to get us in quickly and also knew all the best break spots. Saw many bison up close and even saw a grizzly snacking on an elk.
Well worth every penny. The owner Stacy was fantastic to work with, even with short notice of adding the sunset tour, on which we saw multiple bison and moose up close (but safely) plus Herons and Pelicans. Sunset was spectacular.
Highly highly recommend Obsidian.

Took an all day Yellowstone tour of the lower loop with our wonderful guide, Ted. We could have never seen as many sites and at the best possible spots for great photography on our own. Ted even took some very memorable photos of us. He was so knowledgeable about the park and took great care of us. We even saw a gray wolf feasting on an elk carcass. Don’t miss an opportunity to discover Yellowstone with Ted at Obsidian Cliff tours.
