Interesting place to relax a bit. There are two hot springs. Entrance fee for foreigners is 2000RWF without massage. We took massage and actually paid way too much but well it was a cool experience. Try to negociate when paying.

Zeer hete bronnen, 2 stuks. Vroeger een voor vrouwen en een voor mannen. Water is erg heet! Gelegen aan het Kivu meer. Wij betaalden rwf 2000 op. Hebben geen massage genomen.
Je kunt zelf wat klei pakken en jezelf of elkaar insmeren. Voelt zeer heilzaam!!

My experience at the hot springs was absolutely amazing. It is incredible how these local people can give you an exceptional time with the resources they have available. I highly recommend anyone in the area to give the hot springs a try and show these locals some support. -Beto Barrera

What to say... ok, so it’s cool, cheap and do go if you’re in the area.
On the other hand it’s also a little random and facilities are pretty basic. Some changing rooms (take your own bating suit and towel though apparently with the former they can loan you one). Three pools, one very hot (cook eggs and potatoes hot) and milder ones for gents and women. Massages (3 packages from around 5k to 15k) are ok. We went for the premium option which included being buried in hot sand with a rinse off in the lake.
So, basic, but memorable. If you’re looking for life experiences do pay a visit!
There is very little shade, so bring sun cream (and ask for shade when buried, they’ll pop your head in a bucket - seriously, but it works!).

In the healing waters of the hot springs on the shore of Lake Kivu near Rubona/Rubavu.
This a place where local people come to relax and heal what ails them. It's a relaxing and jovial atmosphere where all are welcome.
The men and women there guided my partner and me to sit by the spring and enjoy a massage. We chose a foot and lower leg massage which starts with burying your feet in the hot, moist sand. Once thoroughly warmed your feet and legs are in for a special treat. The young masseurs are vigorous, friendly and very thorough. The entourage that inevitably gathers pitched in with some back, neck, scalp and hand massage as well. At the end, an herb is "cooked" in the waters and the resulting mush is smeared onto your legs leaving them silky smooth. We were fortunate to have had many memorable experiences in Rwanda and this certainly ranks as one of the top ones. For us it was a nice break stop on the road from Musanze to Nyungwe. Highly recommended.
