Manzanillo Beach is among the most beautiful white sand beaches in Costa Rica. It is two crescent shaped beaches that run, in total, 8 miles along the Caribbean coast.
In addition to white sand, beautiful blue sky and scenes of small restaurants on the opposite side of the highway, palm trees are plentiful and provide shade when you've had enough sun. The last time we were on Manzanilla Beach (2017), it was virtually empty.
This year, was quite different. The beach was populated by thousands of people with their sun tents, barbeques, volleyballs and other beach equipment. They'd settled in for a serious day in the sun. What we learned later was that this volume of people directly related to the holidays (Christmas/New Year) when the populations of San Jose virtually leaves the city and heads for the two coasts for their two week holiday. We were happy to hear this and not that this was a usual day-to-day situation resulting from tourism expansion. I should say that the development of new restaurants on the other side of the highway is clearly resultant from tourism which is good for the community and its economy.
Assuming you're well protected with the right SPF sun protection, this is a great beach for those long, relaxing and even romantic walks, for chatting, meditating or just letting your thoughts leave your head so you fully relax. Equally, it's a great place to swim, play in the sand and get some sun whether you're a child building sand castles or the adult helping.
Manzanillo is about 25 minutes by car south of Puerto Viejo. Don't miss it ... you won't be disappointed.

Clean calm water but during April there are a lot of seagusam/seaweeds .sandy sea shores and seashells so take your picnic basket and swim suit and enjoy the sunshine ☀️

We drove around Manzanilla Beach and it was high tide. Rough waves and beach boardwalk empty. We walked around the boardwalk with life guards on duty. According to my in laws this place gets packed with families on the weekends. Nice place to visit and relax. We also drove down the road to see coconut groves and mangroves.

A beautiful part of Trinidad and, in my opinion, the best beach location on the island. Part of its charm is that it is never too crowded, its clean, has decent facilities and good safe bathing.

beautiful scenery.. The water is nice but be sure to talk to the lifeguards before going in because at times of the year there is alot of man o'war jellyfish in the waters. At times there is a lot of seaweed in the water and shores but when I went there wasn't any, it was clear and fantastic.

The Manzanilla stretch is picturesque year round and the drive from POS is long but worth it when you arrive. The beach's washroom facilities are functional but when I visited it looked like part of the facility was still under construction (hopefully they were creating stalls for vendors).
The boardwalk was a great idea as you can walk along the coastline without getting your feet wet but still enjoy an occasional spray if the water is rough.
There are stairs to descend to the beach. There are no railings and some stairs have moss on it so one must be very careful walking down.
When I went the water was not 100% appealing but residents of the area recommended that around Easter time is one of the best times to visit.
My friends and I played football with some of the friendly residents. It's a great place for a picnic and/or a "lime" with friends.

It's a nice beach if you can find a spot on the beach that isn't covered with seaweed, or if you make it to the water you may have to worry about jellyfish, but if you just coming to the beach to lime with friends and family it's a beautiful beach to lime

Expect troublesome currents in the area plus the annual beaching of those nasty jellyfish. The water is rough at times but an enjoyable bath is possible. Safety in numbers for this part of the island! Until the road is properly fixed, avoid until proper access restored.

Manzanilla beach is an excellent beach. Its a place to relax and have lots of fun. It have a convenient car park plus life guard booths. The beach most of the time is calm but if not a life guard comes and mark of the place. The beach itself is wonderful, an excellent, most spectacular scenary. Manzanilla which I always going a beach for the family and gosh toilet and bathroom facilities the best ever. Just you have to pay but a small fee but majority of the times it does be clean often. There are vendors there that sell their goods which tastes so good and yea it have stray dogs you can feed when you done it. It even have concrete picnic tables and stools and shade. Just excellent. Manzanilla is not a far drive, just hop in a car and hop out. Its a beauty and its very convenient! All I can say is you go experience Manzanilla beach...its excellent!!!

manzanilla beach is located on the East Coast of Trinidad. The waters are usually rough but overall is a nice beach to hang out and relax. its not crowded and has bathroom and wash room facilities which is PLUS. There are also picnic tables with concrete stools and nice parking lot. Most importantly there are life guards on duty.
Apart from the ocean being rough you have to be weary of under currents and undulating sea bed. sometimes the ocean is brown in colour because of the currents picking up sand from the sea bead as it breaks, that can be irritating but for a brief moment you can enjoy sand free waves. its nice for short dips. What i like the most is the bathroom facilities. there is a small fee of $ 1 tt dollar to use the facilities but its clean there are also change rooms and good pressure to get good flow of water in the showers.
