We visited this National Park on golf cart from our cruise ship. It was a cool location with rocks, sand and awesome views of the ocean. Very neat to see.

It's a secluded beach. There is a sign saying Columbus landed here. Believe it or not. No facilities. No fee. Donkeys greet you at the entrance.

Passing by this memorial is truly awesome. Its hard to believe that nearby on the beach the Spanish boats of Nina,Pinta and Santa Maria landed here and brought discoverers to the New World.

The entire west side of Grand turk is basically this protected area. You will see various types of beaches and development and lack thereof along the entire length of the island. Suffice it to say that collectively the beaches are very clean, crystal clear water, about a thousand shades of blue and you can walk everywhere. Take a few trips to different parts of this "Park" and enjoy its variety and diversity.

Columbus Landfall National Park is not only one beach, but a protected area that includes basically all of the beaches on the west coast of Grand Turk, the reef and the ocean between them. Also the most well-known beaches like Governor's or Pillory Beach are part of it.
The name is based on the possibility that Grand Turk was the place where Columbus first arrived in America. It might as well been a couple of other islands in the Bahamas, we'll probably never know. Still, it's nice that the beaches of GT are protected this way, signs giving visitors an idea how to behave properly in order to protect the National Park (even though I've never seen anyone enforcing those rules).
It's a beautiful walk just to stroll down the coastal areas of Cockburn Town and enjoy the lovely beach views, I've done it more than once during my 6-day stay on the island. Personally my favourite beach was Governor's Beach in the south. It has stunning colors and was completely deserted both times we visited (there was no ship in town though). Pillory Beach is quite average in my opinion and much more crowded. Also I preferred using water shoes there because of the high number of sea urchins.

We walked parts of the Columbus Landfall National park. the water was so many different colours of blue. It was like a painting. It was very quiet around. But a lot of damaged from the hurricanes that happened in Sept/Oct. A few piers and building close by damaged and closed. Lots of conch, shells & tropical fish and other sea creatures. Seemed like Columbus Landfall National Park is the whole west coast of the island. Most of the island was very quiet not a lot of locals or tourists. There was some really neat Pastel Coral Kiosks with souvenirs. They were far priced but watch out some of it was made in china. Vendors were really pleasant to talk to and not pushy at all.

This park (next to downtown) exhibits the bluish water I have ever seen in the Caribbean. You can also see the contrast color of the water just a few hundred yard from the shore were, as tour guide explained, starts a drop off of several thousand feet.

We were on the cruise ship Carnival Vista when we stopped at this port in Turks & Cacaos. If you love to party then the ‘Margaritaville’ restaurant and pool party at the port is the place for you. Also, the ship sells an excursion called ‘Poolside Cabana Rental.’ There are about 12 to 15 cabanas surrounding the large pool area and seemed to be a popular choice for accommodating large families. It has air condition inside and a cute outside porch. But I loved to snorkel and after reading blogs I decided to explore the reef at the port as so many had suggested. I was happy I did. If you love to snorkel, this is all you need to do. Grab your water shoes and snorkel/mask and head off the ship. Turn right and walk down the beach that eventually bends to the left. About a 15 minute walk, or so, and you will bend left at the point where you can snorkel this entire shallow reef along the beach. It’s beautiful. We saw a large variety of reef fish and sea urchins. The water is clear and the beach is typically isolated. We were the only ones there for a few hours before everyone else discovered it. I would definitely go back to Turks & Cacaos and snorkel this beach again. There was a sign ‘Columbus Landfall National Park’ and it noted that the area was a “mixed use zone.” The sign listed activities from shore like swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving and kayaking. The sign states that there is no lifeguard but the reef is so close to shore so wind and waves or ocean current wasn’t an issue at all.

We picked a taxi Tour Around Grand Turk at the Cruise port who took us along the park and the beaches and explained just off the beach the water drops to thousands of feet deep.
Water was so blue and is a hidden gem of of an experience. Part of a great tour for only $15US per head. When we came back to the cruise centre some of the people said they had gone for a walk along the beach to the start of the Columbus Park and found some good size Conch Shells. Best hidden gem.
