Fabulous production of Shakespeare's Tempest by Director Nicholas Quirke and Designer Peta Taylor. Beautifully played with passion and a touch of fun by a cast of local actors. Well worth seeing in this intimate, wecoming theatre space.

Great to see this place being used, very basic decor but charming. Cafe great good variety. Play great "The Tempest". Toilets need some basic care, hardly any lights, running tap we couldn't stop and for a Saturday night NO TOLET PAPER, still had a laugh, men and women offering each other tissues. Still I would return.

I visited this venue after stumbling upon it, and needless to say my visit was awful, food was cold and horrid, and some gentlemen with a beard who may have been the manager was extremely rude to me whilst i was ordering my food!. so after stumbling on this venue, i most certainly will not be returning

Just before Christmas and I suppose it's Christmas Panto but all the same very enjoyable in this cosy almost old world environment. Cast gave their all with gusto and I believe with the help of some local school children. Liked the theatre very much and in particular the comfortable café area. Hope to return in the not too distant...

Saw "Dial M for Murder" really enjoyed it, with a super cast, but very small audience. It was a Wednesday night though so I hope that was why.
Had a lovely coffee and chocolate cake in the interval

Those who have not yet discovered the delights of the Emporium theatre and café-bar in Brighton might like to take the opportunity to do so by going there to watch the classic thriller Dial M for Murder.
This delightful venue at 88 London Road, Brighton, could hardly be given a more glowing recommendation than that by its patron, actor and director Alan Rickman.
Rickman said: “The Emporium opens an exciting new door in British theatre venues. A great space with limitless potential for performance and serving the local community.”
Open seven days a week, the Emporium's café-bar is a hub for theatre and film professionals and enthusiasts alike.
So it is an ideal venue for Dial M for Murder which is currently being staged by the highly respected talking Scarlet and their highly talented director-producer Patric Kearns until November 21st before embarking on an 11-venue tour in 2016.
Famously filmed by Alfred Hitchcock, Frederick Knott’s intense and darkly gripping thriller is based on Tony being convinced his wife is having an affair. His precision in planning what must surely be the perfect murder…until it falters in the most unexpected way.
It stars Oliver Mellor (Coronation Street), Terri Dwyer (Hollyoaks) and Marcus Hutton (Brookside).
talking Scarlet, run by Patric and Jane Shakespeare, has already had outstanding success with a string of productions including What the Butler Saw, Sherlock and Stone Cold Murder. I went to see them and enjoyed them all at either the Emporium Theatre or the delightful Devonshire Park Theatre in Eastbourne.
Why not spend a full day in Brighton? The Royal Pavilion, the quaint shops in The Lanes, the marina and, of course, the pier are just a few of the places that are worth a visit.
Then you can round it all off with a visit to the unique Emporium with it's comfy sofas, charming atmosphere and excellent entertainment.
Lewes also has many historic and entertaining attractions, including the Lewes Little Theatre which will be staging The Circle by Somerset Maugham from November 28 to December 5.

A great quirky place to go for coffee/food or to see a show. I took my grandchildren to see Bard and Troubadour's Thumbelina which was marvellous. Well worth a visit.

The outside is quirky and as soon as you step in it is just wonderfully done, with candles, comfy sofas and great props that make it truly unique!

The coffee is superb, wine nicely chilled and all at exceptionally reasonable prices.

The show was Sleeping Beauty and the quality of performance was the best surprise. Great characters and fabulous talented cast!

The best theatre I have seen in a very long time! It is cool, quirky and different in all the right ways :0)

Totally recommend!

we visited this theatre for the first time just after christmas 2014. Its at the end of the high street, and from the outside you may walk past as it looks quite unassuming but it is really worth going in. Through the doors it has the cafe, which serves great coffee, and comfy sofas sit next to more modern tables and chairs. It was very busy, which serves testament to the good food and atmopshere. We were a bit initally confused as where the actual show was to be put on, as we couldnt seee any signs, so we enjoyed our coffee, and watched what everyone else did! The theatre was behind the main room, and we followed others through to the small, intimate space. If your on the front row, you get to be part of the action! All of the theatre staff were genuinely friendly, and the pantomime was very professional, funny, with great songs. The best we have seen in a long time. such a great show.
