Lovely spot to spot frogs and other wildlife right in the centre of Chiswick. We had a lovely time exploring even in the rain. Recommend if you live in the area

This hidden gem is worth a visit if you’re in Chiswick. Literally opposite Chiswick Park tube, it’s a forest escape in London. There are multiple habitats to explore with birds and other wildlife in a small area. Makes a relaxing half hour walk or tranquil lunchtime spot.

Gunnersbury Triangle is a place where birds, small mammals and invertebrates take advantage of the sheltered birch and willow. The natural walkways guide the visitors around this calm area. Note that, for the most part, these paths are somewhat accessible. There are some stairs (not many, just some - but you don't need to take them) and the paths, given the natural setting, can be covered in leaf litter, twigs and the occasional log. There are a few chairs available for those that need a rest and / or want to enjoy the setting.

Walking around, you can forget that you are in busy London (with exception of the regular train service going by - this nature reserve is just next door to London Underground and Overground tracks). I initially thought no one was in there, when I was there. However, I then did stumble (not literally, thankfully :D) across some other visitors. With all the greenery, you wouldn't know anyone else is there.

I would definitely recommend bringing children and school groups here (there is no entry charge which is a bonus for families and schools). There are ample opportunities for children and adults to get their magnifying glasses out to look under the leaf litter and go on a bug hunt.

For such a small area of natural woodland Gunnersbury Triangle attracts a wide range of flora and fauna. The 2.5 hectares of habitat is a watering hole for two types of woodpecker and blackcaps. Besides the birdlife, it's here you can spot half a dozen mammals and amphibians such as toads and frogs scuttling across the walking trails. Squirrels are abound.

If you are here in August or September time, you can bring some Tupperware and fill it generously with the swathes of blackberries that grow along the walking trails.

The nature reserve is enveloped by train tracks and is easily reached from Chiswick Park Station on the District Line.

Entrance to the reserve is free.

We visited the Gunnersbury Triangle with our 6 year old twin grandchildren. They had a lovely time.

It is just beside Chiswick Park tube station in Bollo Lane and is not large. It is run by the London Wildlife Trust and the office is a converted container. The loos are also a bit primitive. It has the District Line and Overground along two of the three sides.

However the site is a little gem of unspoilt woodland in a very urban area. There is also a small area of meadow

We visited in late July and the blackberries were delicious and plentiful. However the high spot was the pond dipping. We found so many different types of wildlife and had a whale of a time.

We then ate our picnic on a bench overlooking the pond by the railway.

I love this place, been visiting for years , first with my daddy and now with my daughter. my claim to fame is that I actually got lost in this tiny piece of wilderness .
I recommend visiting if you want to just put on the wellies, bring a couple of jars with the magnifying glass and explore , of course we let the bugs go when we've looked at them. Not many people go here, and I don't know why not - it's amazing, you don't have to travel miles to find nature like this .

Its not wheelchair friendly, but if you have mobility problems and can walk then it's do-able very slowly.
There are no facilities as such, but Sainsbury's is nearby and I recommend er... going before you go .
It's directly opposite Chiswick Park Underground station .

i come here once a year for a fungus foray directed by an eminent mycologist who clearly loves what he does and is great at enthusing others. It is just my cup of tea to scamble in and out of brambles looking for interesting fungi. The facilities here are quite basic and the brambles seem to be taking over but there is a lovely pond and lots of interest for kids of all ages if you love nature.

If you like this place also look up Perivale Wood which is not far away.

Heaven corner. I like to think that nobody know this park except me. The triangle is not very big, not very beautiful, not very amazing, and that's why I love this place. There's nobody around, it's free, the district line is very close. Relaxing place, ideal for couple or family.

Being a big fan of Gunnersbury Triangle I thought I would take this opportunity to sing its praises.
Just a few metres from Chiswick Park District Line station and a couple of hundred from Chiswick High Road, sits this gem of a place. The site is bordered on two sides by railway tracks whilst on the third by Bollo Lane thus providing its triangular shape.
I work and live nearby and have visited many times over the years to lose myself in the beautiful woodland, bogs, ponds and meadows all neatly tucked inside the few acres of the Triangle.
Gunnersbury Triangle has existed as a nature reserve since the 1980's I believe? Also it was the first such site within London to be recognised and protected from development.
Unfortunately recent years have seen the site threatened from its borders with substantial housing developments either being built or in the process of being so.
Despite all this the Triangle is a fantastic place to lose oneself from the hurly burly of modern life so why not make a visit and enjoy?
