We were guided by Eric for an extremely informative and revealing visit to the D Day Normandy beaches. He had suggested that 3 days would be needed for us to learn as much as possible about that momentous period of history. He was absolutely correct.
Under his guidance we explored the coastline visiting all the beaches from Utah to Sword. At each point we learnt, in graphic detail, about the action and the human stories linked to the specific areas.
He also took us to the British Normandy Memorial, still with the 1,475 Standing with Giants silhouettes filling the meadow between the memorial and the sea. They were about to be taken back to the UK following this year’s 80th commemoration ceremony but it was very moving. We visited the American War Cemetery. Pegasus Bridge and museum, St Mere Eglise and the Hillman Command post were also on the itinerary.
Eric, with his huge background knowledge was able to bring the history of the time to life for us. It was an excellent tour. We cannot recommend it too highly. Thank you and well done.

Our family of 4 took the American Beaches / American Cemetery tour with Eric and he was fantastic. Eric has an encyclopedic knowledge of the military strategy behind D-Day landing and he taught us a great deal of history about St. Mere Eglise, Utah and Omaha beaches, and the hedgerows that challenged the troops. Eric's respect for the sanctity of Normandy was plain to see and reinforced the importance of these sites. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend his tours!

With only one full day to see the sights myself and a friend booked a personal day tour with D Day Landing Tours. From my first email, Eric looked after us and on the appointed day picked us up from our AirB&B at 9 am and dropped us back at 6 pm. It was great not having to worry about where to go or what to do and just absorb Eric's extensive knowledge of all things Overlord. Having opted to focus on the British/Canadian Sectors we visited the main sites, learning about the immense undertaking that was D-Day but more importantly, gained an understanding of the actions and sacrifices made by the smaller units and individual soldiers that only a personal guided tour can deliver. My main takeaway from Eric's tour was an understanding of the gratefulness the people of Normandy, to this day, still feel to D-Day for being liberated from the Nazi terror.

We had a tremendous time on our D-Day tour with Eric. He is a tremendous storyteller who brings intimate knowledge of the invasion. We shared many laughs and ended the day with a plethora of new knowledge about the D-Day landings. What set Eric apart was all the maps and pictures he had, these artifacts provided extra context and made it easier to envision what it looked like on June 6, 1944. We highly recommend D Day Landing Tours.

Eric met us at our accommodation on time and immediately we knew we were in the hands of an experienced tour guide. So full of information building up a picture of events not just facts. With maps and pictures to explain various points along the route Eric was a pleasure to spend the day with.
I would highly recommend his services

Eric Turnbull is an amazing guide! He came highly recommended and it is clear why! He has a photographic memory and has been studying WWII since he was 6 years old. We learned so much even on just a half day tour of Omaha Beach and Pointe du Hoc. We ended the day at the American Cementary where we were able to witness the flags coming down and taps. Eric reminded us to go say thank you to the soldiers who gave their life so that America and Europe could be free. It was a bucket list moment that I will never forget

Eric Turnbull was an incredible tour guide. He had a tough job with my family of 5 which includes a WW2 history buff husband and three young kids. Eric was able to make the tour interesting for all of us. It was an incredible day. We gave Eric the infantry information for my grandfather who served in the Army at Omaha beach and Eric was able to show us the spot where he entered by sea. Pretty incredible.
If we didn't have the kids with us, I definitely would have wanted a second day (or even third day!) because it was a lot to cover in one day. Thank you DD Landing Tours for a wonderful experience!

Eric Turnbull delivered an excellent 2 day tour covering the U.K. and Canadian sectors. We were blown away by his detailed knowledge of the campaign. Through his many years of research and interviews with veterans from all sides, Eric helped us relive the momentous events of June 1944 and the heroic actions of individuals and their units. A fantastic and at times very moving experience I will not forget.

We came as a group of 8 in our own minibus. Eric gave us a one day tour devoted at our request to British / Commonwealth sites - Pegasus and then Sword, Juno, Gold. His knowledge was encyclopaedic - detailed information about different regiments, etc, at his fingertips in a remarkable way. An unusual ability almost to act out his descriptions of events as he spoke about them. Highly recommended especially if you wish to have detailed knowledge of particular regiments and their activities - therefore a particularly good and very experienced guide, we think, if you are coming because of a family member's association with D Day.
A general point about the D Day sites is that there is an enormous amount to see - the sites, memorials, very moving cemeteries, museums and so forth - all spread over 60 miles. You need a guide to select what is best in the time you have. Eric did this for us - we know there is a great deal more that we could have seen, but he fitted in as much as it was realistic to see in a full and moving day.
We went separately early one morning to the very moving Commonwealth War Graves Museum in Bayeux, Eric having taken us to the cemetery at Ranville for the Airborne troops.

The 2014 review about the father that landed at Omaha Beach with the 29th division and was severely wounded at St. Lo exactly matched my father's experience . My dad lost his left leg, and had severe injuries to his right arm and hand in the battle at St. Lo . One of the trips I have neglected is one to honor his sacrifice . I have only recently realized the existence of the tours that are offered . I would like to plan a trip in 2019 . I would hope to include family members Please send relevant information .

I stayed at Le Manoir St Victoire in Bayeux and it was lovely. It's a small 15th century bed and breakfast and breakfast is included. I stayed in the Toffoli room, which is on the top floor and has a great view. The host and hostess were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was enjoyable. They do not take credit cards.
I took an all day private D Day tour with D Day Landing Tours and it was a highlight of my 25 day trip to Europe. Eric, the tour guide was very knowlegeable and passionate about war. Private tours are expensive but you will learn information that you would not have gotten otherwise. I was impressed by how much Eric knew and how much I would have missed if I had tried to see any of the D Day sites on my own or in a group. Eric is honest and will tell you exactly what happened, which sometimes is contrary to what you may have heard or read. War is a difficult subject and I appreciated Eric's sense of humor as well.
The other recommendation I have is to book your accomodations and tour as far in advance as possible as the Manor St Victoire is sometimes booked a year in advance, according to the hostess. Book both as soon as possible.

I will be in Paris May 18.
So I presume I leave from Gare St Lazare around 10am and arrive around in Bayeux at 12:30.
Will driver pick me up at station in Bayeux?.
How long is tour, (we will be two people)?
What type of vehicle will we be using?.
Will tour guide be English speaking?
How many people will be on our tour? (or will we two be the only ones).
When does train depart Bayeux for return to Paris that evening.
What is total price of tour (for two, one senior and one adult)) using 1st class rail and tour.
What train do I take back to Paris same day. From what station in Paris do I take the train to the Bayeux?
