Lovely and peaceful on the day we visited. A few of the paths were closed for maintenance or for the creation of a new section but overall still a nice place to spend a few hours. The camellias and daffodils were looking good and in a few more weeks I expect the bluebells and rhododendrons will be out. We bought a sandwich and a hot chocolate from the kiosk in the park but there's a larger cafe outside. No hot food apart from drinks at the kiosk, no loos either apart from at the entrance. Many of the paths are suitable for a scooter or wheelchair, though it's a bit hilly.

What a great place to spend the day. Lots to see. Very interesting to learn about the plants the planning and future plans. Really enjoyed walking around the garden although muddy under foot but where isn’t muddy after the recent weather. Dog friendly.

Visited for the first time in ages. Expected it to be crowded as it was the first dry and sunny day for ages. Did not realise that it had become a dog park! Virtually everyone had one or more dogs and few on the required short leads. Nearly tripped up twice! I love dogs, but this is ridiculous as I understand there are only a couple of hours a week when dogs are not permitted.

Inspired to visit by photos I'd seen the park was a great place for a walk round. The reflections of the various maples in the water was so colourful and we enjoyed walking round the paths to see this from all sides. The woodland walk was a lot quieter, so quiet we were able to watch a trio of deer in there for several minutes uninterrupted. If I was local I'd be a regular visitor, as I'm not I'll just hope I can visit again soon.

This is now purely a place to walk your dog. They are everywhere and not on short leads, so easily a trip hazard. I like dogs, but the numbers are excessive. I know that Saturday mornings are dog free, but that’s very limiting. I prefer elsewhere, a personal choice.

Lovely place and fairly dog friendly, during certain times but be aware that on Saturdays until 1pm you cannot take your dog in.
We couldn’t use the restaurant either as you can’t take dogs inside, and we didn’t want to sit outside as it’s winter.
Could easily have a dog friendly section within the cafe as many do.
Love it here though.

I have been visiting this National Trust location for many years. Love all the seasons. It is well kept and has very good volunteer guides. I particularly like visiting the gift shop for gifts to take to friends in Canada, and Christmas cards to send world-wide.
Helpful having the coffee shop that also sells lunches, and the eating area is in a lovely building, and especially nice in the summer when sitting outside.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit yesterday. The Autumn colours were stunning and all the Staff were very helpful. Advise suitable footwear as it can be muddy in places. Mobility buggy very helpful in assisting people to and from the overflow car park. Be aware the Cafe, which is very good, can be very busy at this time of year so patience required. Highly recommend a visit

There has been a lot of money spent on this venue culminating in a striking environment
The cafe offers good coffee and snacks at an acceptable price with lovely outside spaces.
I found the goods in the shop/s very overpriced e.g.tiny wax melts at £1.25 a pop.
Most of goods were from India..imagine Mark up !!!!!!

Beautiful lakes with so many varieties of Autumn Trees! there was a disabled buggy available both times, even when I was told they were all booked up. Staff were very helpful.

I’m afraid I don’t go there regularly, but I’d say about now would be a good time. If you go, remember to take some food for the ducks and other waders you may see.😃

Until a few years ago, dogs were not allowed in the garden at all, and there are many of our visitors who do not want to see dogs in the garden. We decided to introduce the half-day option to try and provide a compromise between those who want to bring their dogs and those who prefer a dog-free environment. We do welcome dogs on the parkland and off-lead in East Park as well as in the garden room of the tearoom at all times of the day. We are always reviewing our arrangements, and the National Trust as a whole are looking at how we welcome dogs to our places to try and provide a more uniform policy that will be easier to understand for our visitors. We appreciate your feedback, and this will all go towards helping us form future policies. Jo Grocott, Visitor Experience Manager.

I’m thinking of traveling to Sheffield park on good Friday by public transport from Brighton
But a little confused as I can get to Lewes for £5.50 return
But to go to uckfield it’s £30
Can someone tell me the easiest & cheapest option please

Hello there. It's not an easy place to get to on public transport and could be more hassle than it's worth. Check the National Trust/Sheffield Park Gardens own website for their directions.
You can go from Lewes to Uckfield on the train but it's 8 miles to Sheffield Park from there. A fun route would be to take the train to East Grinstead and then the steam train on the Bluebell Railway which stops at Sheffield Park - about 15 mins walk to the gardens. The trains are not very frequent though. Check the Bluebell Railway website.

Whereabouts is ‘East Park’
Canadian traces are at Wakehurst Place!

It was in relation to someone who praised the ‘East Park’ at Sheffield Park, mentioned Canadian traces and eulogised about the helpful teenage restaurant staff - clearly deluded as Wakehurst housed a Canadian contingent in WWII.
Sheffield Park restaurant boasts teenagers with appalling customer skills and no hot food before noon.

Is their lots of public toilets around the park
And is their plenty of benches to rest on ?
