We have visited Raystede lots of times over the years. We have a tree planted there in memory of our dad, and my brother did a charity skydive to raise money for them. On previous visits its been lovely, lots of animals to see and lovely walks.
However having decided to take our granddaughter there , we were extremely disappointed. Booked tickets for 6 of us, stood in a queue for 10 mins. Whilst the lady got the ipad to work, we read the board of rules that never seemed to be there before. We wandered off to see the animals, but only managed to see 1 cat, a few horses and goats, and last but not least the birds.
Arrived at 10am and left at 10.45am, a very disappointing trip.

I used to visit Raystede a lot when my daughter was little, we would make a whole day of it seeing the animals and walking around the lake, sometimes going to the café. We went today and I was shocked. Firstly we had to 'book in advance, which we have never had to do? My husband tried to do this online, but gave us in the end, so he phones & even the lady we spoke to on the phone said it was pointless having to book in advance, as it never gets really busy.
When we arrived there were 2 quite unfriendly ladies sitting in a kiosk, which in somewhere with so many animals to care for seamed like a waste of personnel as there was literally nothing for them to do? They were just drinking coffee & chatting. After we 'checked in' we walked around & we barely say any animals (saw some birds but only if you arrive before 2pm) few, horses & tortoise, all the other animals that we used to go & see, like the cats, dogs & Guinea pigs were shut away. I appricate its a free place to visit & the animals welfare is paramount, but it was very disappointing day.
Our lovely cat came from Raystede 8 yrs ago, but we were shocked at how much it has changed since then and judging by the other reviews on here can only think these changes will put people visiting again. Bring back the old Raystede!

Hardly any animals to be seen, lots of areas closed off. Couldn't see through some of the viewing windows due to being very dirty. I saw one cat, one dog from a distance, a few rabbits - really it was extremely disappointing.

Nothing to see but overgrown nettles , a few goats and a few horses and some tortoise . Everything is closed off due to bird flu . Totally understand though , not a very good visit , I don’t think we will be back. We had lunch in the cafe and dropped some money in the collection to contribute as it was free to get in .

Afternoon tea with cake.
Coffee and walnut for me Victoria sponge for my wife. Lovely cakes nice pot of tea.
Friendly staff.
Followed up by a quick look around the shop.
Great place to visit, you may need to book on line to see the animals.
No need to book for the cafe or shop.

We took my young granddaughter with a promise of seeing the animals. The birds are all shut away due to avian flu restrictions- which is fair enough. BUT the dog, cat and small animal enclosures are all shut and not accessible to the public. We wandered around in the rain and saw a few rabbits and a goat. Cafe disappointing too.
It wasn't worth the journey at all and we won't bother again. I am sure they would rehome a lot more animals if they allowed public access to see them. The RSPCA do this and the animals do not seem to suffer any I'll effects. Staff were not helpful when we asked any we could not access the cat enclosure.
Luckily my granddaughter is still young enough that she wasn't disappointed, but overall the visit was a huge let down.

Visited with four children during half term week. On the good side, entry was free and there was a play area but on the bad side there were no animals to see other than three horses and one dog. Maybe we went on a bad day, but I will not visit again at the risk that there may or maybe not animals to see.

Sad that there were no animals out to see. We arrived at 10.00am and seen 2 goats, a few geese and that was it. Very disappointing.
