Highly recommend Kumbukumbu Tours to any traveller. My experience with the team, from early communication about my tailored itinerary, pick up from the airport, delivery of each of the experiences, friendliness, kindness and professionalism of guides, especially Obed, was simply wonderful.

My visit to Rwanda was amazing, lifelong memories that will stay forever in my heart, and much of this because of this “off the beaten track” tour experience which allowed me to truly connect with the African culture and people.

Kudos once again to Obed who is a wonderful guide, storyteller, professional, and foremost, person.

Cannot wait to my next adventure with this wonderful team when I’m back to Africa.

Rundum perfektes Erlebnis

Wir waren im Akagera und im Vulcano Nationalpark über insgesamt drei Tage. Unsere Guides waren super nett, cool drauf, sehr flexibel und haben alle unsere Wünsche möglich gemacht. Alles hat super ziverlässig geklappt (Pünktlichkeit, Bezahlung, sonstige Absprachen)
Einfach ein großartiges Erlebnis - ich würde es genauso wieder machen und auch jedem, der/die mal in Ruanda ist empfehlen:)

Definitely recommend Kumbukumbu

We arranged a custom 3-country tour of Burundi, DRC, and Rwanda with Kumbukumbu and had a fabulous experience. The itinerary was thoughtfully put together, communication with the team was excellent, and both Obed and Sammy truly went out of their way to ensure that we had a wonderful trip. We look forward to future trips to more east African destinations with Kumbukumbu, and would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to visit the region.

Fantastic experience with Kumbukumbu Tours

Booked a 8 day trip to DRC via Kigali. Since it was my 3rd time in Rwanda - my programme was adjusted to visit different places in Rwanda b4 crossing to DRC.

Obed managed pre-arrangement of my VOA visa. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe at all times. Quaint accommodations were selected, fun activities tailored to my preference plus the excellent guiding services by Obed. My highlight was trekking gorillas and visiting the chimp orphanage.

Intrepid travels with Obed

My son surprised me with a Kumbukumbu tour of DRC tour.
Our sincere gratitude to Obed for not only guiding us on this amazing adventure, but challenging our thoughts and senses - mentally and physically-
to come out of DR Congo with enlightened appreciation of this country of extremes.

We arrived in Kigali Rwanda 3 days before Obed picked us up for this action-packed 9 day tour highlighting the Gorilla Trek at Kahuzi-Biéga National Park.
Our experiences were extreme from the scenic motorbike ride around Idjwi Island where we visited a local school, to the chaotic streets of Goma, to the exquisite cuisine and serenity of glamping on Lake Kivu, Tchegera (private) Island.
But the most unexpected highlight was the children of a Masisi village who battered my first world view that with so little in their lives, these beautiful children can express such happiness.

At all times Obed anticipated our specific needs with the flexibility of an expert guide.
His exceptional skill is if something does not work, there’s always a plan B.

Really loved my time travelling with Obed. I came with some very specific requests for the activities I'd like to do, and he knocked it out of the park. Home Run. He made the trip smooth, and fun. He's also a great guy.

Brilliant guide for the adventurous traveller

Obed from Kumbukumbu is everything you could ask for in a guide - especially for the adventurous traveller who wants to get off the beaten track.

Obed was recommended to me as a guide for travelling the DRC during my Cape Town to Cairo overland trip and was brilliant from the day we began communicating. He helped me plan a trip with him that was within my backpackers budget (lots of motorbike travel) and although it it unusual for me to travel with a guide - I was so pleased that I did for this section of my trip as I gained such an insight into a much maligned country. Obed was very adaptable and even after the Virunga park was closed to due security concerns he still managed to create a brilliant programme including lowland gorillas, city tours with backstreet moonshine, galloping horses through incredible mountains of Masisi and my all time favourite place the CRSN research centre in Lwiro. A place that time forgot.

Before we met Obed was always happy to help me with advice for countries he knows and he continues to do so months after our time together. He is a wealth of knowledge on Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and DRC. I’ve personally met many happy clients of Obed’s and he can cater for many different types of travellers…. But I know he has most fun with the wild ones :-)

Once in a Lifetime Trip

It has always been my dream to travel to Uganda and experience the wildlife. Not sure where to start, especially as a solo female traveler, I reached out to several different tour companies. Referred by a friend of a friend to Kumbukumbu, I ultimately decided to go with Obed and his team.

The planning was seamless, and Obed offered some example itineraries, then we worked together to finalize a one week adventure that would make the most of my limited time in the country.

The actual trip was incredible! All accommodations and food were excellent, especially considering my tight budget, and the tour was packed with bucket list activities like gorilla/chimpanzee tracking and wildlife excursions like game drives and river boats.

A friend ended up joining the trip, and Obed had a second guide, so in total there were two of us tourists, two guides, and a driver. I felt extremely safe the entire time!

All in all, my experience with Kumbukumbu Tours was stellar, and I am so grateful that I ended up going with Kumbukumbu for this once in a life time trip.

Best guide ever!

Obed is an extremely informative, kind, and reliable guide. I loved my time in the DRC and a big reason was because of Obed! He made sure our needs were met and that we were taken care of. We saw amazing and beautiful sights and got to chat with the locals. Highly recommend!!
