sept. 2023 • En couple
The Humpback whale swimming excursion we went on with BJ and Vanessa from Explore Niue was the absolute highlight of our two week holiday in Niue. The 6 of us had two incredible up-close encounters with a friendly humpback calf, while Mum kept a watch nearby. We also had another in-water encounter with an adolescent, who put on a beautiful ballet for us.
Having swum with humpbacks in Tonga as well, we consider Niue to be the better option. The very deep water so close to shore means that whales are often just a few minutes boat ride away.
A friendly and professional couple, BJ and Vanessa also gave us the opportunity to snorkel along the reef and into a cave for part of the time. - it was great to support a local Niuean owned company.
They also own Tuaga Lodge, located at their base in Alofi.
Highly recommend.

We had a fantastic time with Ness and BJ out on the water! Thank you both so very much for the experience you gave us with the whales at your beautiful country!
We are a couple in our late forties and early fifties. Ness and BJ are bothe experts in the topography and the animal behaviour and were able to put us in positions to get amazing photos and swim-bys with Humpback whales with their calves.
Thank you both so very much!

Great service by Vanessa Marsh. I've very familiar with Niue myself, but had to do the Orientation of the island as was there with a work group. Her knowledge is outstanding and delivers it in a way that really inspires you to want to know more about the island, it's people and history. Would have loved another spot for swimming / snorkelling, but understand we had to fit within a certain time frame so what you cover in that time is great. Excellent snack provided after our swim / snorkel at Matapa. Professional service. Highly recommend.

A warm fakaalofa lahi atu Tanya and Charmaine,
Fakaaue lahi mahaki for taking the time to share you feedback here. It was so lovely to see you both again, to welcome you back to the island and to have you on tour with us. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with you both and sharing your wide knowledge and experience. You support has been most appreciated especially as we continue to establish ourselves as a tour operator.
We look forward to seeing you back on island again but until then, take care.

Vanessa's 4 hour tour of the west coast of Niue (starting at Scenic Matavai Resort and heading north via the coastal road) is a must-do when you arrive in Niue. As a Niuean her commentary highlighted culture, history, land and sea features as we travelled north via whale lookout points, Alofi, Avaiki Cave and Matapa Chasm. Once we had our rental car we returned to several spots Vanessa had introduced us to on this first day. She was generous with her knowledge and her time and treated us to local fruits and fresh coconut at our last stop. The plantain chips which she and her partner had sourced especially for us the night before were a hit and set us off on our own search for more.

I would like to know how much this tour would cost. We are on a cruise ship arriving 11 December (Maasdam). Pick up from the port is important. We arrive 10am and must be back on the ship at 4.30pm. What can you do for us? And what if I have more people from the ship?
