... sandy patches all gone ... down to bare rock ... access only for the agile ... snorkelling still an option though ... the stark beauty of this place lives on

Come at low tide and you will be treated to the best snorkelling on all of Niue. The corals are lush, colourful and varied and there is a huge number of fish and some sea snakes.
The beach is quite small (and virtually disappears when it's not low tide) but the reef starts very close to the shore and is dense. Be careful of strong currents around here.

As with all the beaches in Niue you need to be aware of the tides and perhaps do some planning.
This is a lovely we beach, not too hard to get to. It is right by Crazy Unga cafe where you can get some nourishment.

Many tourists sunbathe at this place full of white sand. There is a deep area and a shallow part of the beach. It is good for snorkeling at the deep part. The rocky reef span out to 15 meters to the deep ocean. It is safe to swim in the deep area that does not reach the deep ocean. On a hot summer day families go for picnic there. A freshwater shower tap made for tourists and locals to have a rinse after a swim.

Great spot with white sand and shallow calm sea for swimming. Awesome snorkeling with abundance of bright fish and a small shallow reef to swim around at full or low tide. Over head height at full tide though. Good coffee to go up the hill at Crazy Uga (take your own reusable cup to keep island landfill at minimum) and open cold shower half way up track. Only beach where yachts moor from what we could see. No sea snakes seen here while we were swimming. Slight whiff at times from cliff side, possibly from Alofi grey water?

Stunning beach with an area to snorkel and a nice little corner in the cave to sit and cool off. We really enjoyed this beach and would arrive every 2nd day to cool off. Showers and picnic tables are also available.

Just across from the police station, this reef is as amazing for its accessibility as for its beauty. Don't miss it, especially if sunset coincides with low tide. Not to be relegated to second fiddle even after having experienced the range of options on the island after two weeks here!

A nice little beach, easy access and safe. Probably one of the better ones for kids. We didn't snorkel but seemed to be opportunities a little out from the beach.

We went to all the tracks around the Rock and every one of them had such amazing colourful water. Can only imagine what the sea life would be in them, but unfortunately as per most of the good spots no one was allowed to due to a local custom of catching a little fish called Kaloama. Reckoned we would scare the fish off which is ridiculous. Not good P.R considering that is what they promote and a lot of people come for.

Shallow enough for small children and great for non-confident snorkellers who need to be able to stand up to feel safe ... also amazing for the more adventurous to venture outside the cut in the reef into the real ocean
