This is a small shopping center located right at the top of the hill from where you come off the cruise ships tender. There is a small phone store where you can purchase internet at a reasonable price to use while on the island.

Niue is such a beautiful island with such lovely friendly people, but there always has to be a rotten apple in the barrel. I shopped twice at the "Double M' store in the centre of Alofi before learning a lesson. Its slogan is "Shop with a difference. Proudly locally owned."
Twice, I left the shop feeling very unhappy. On the first occasion, the girl put all but one of my purchases on the till. I didn't understand what she had done, or what she said and handed over an amount close to what was showing on the till. But she needed another $5 for the bread, which she said was extra.. Strange???
I also purchased some rather expensive oranges from that shop, and next day the majority of them were rotten.
On my second visit to that shop, I was buying two six-packs of yoghurt, the usual Meadow Fresh yoghurt that costs around $5 per pack in NZ. I was expecting to pay maybe $15 for the two packs, allowing for the high cost of transport to the island. But she charged $30.. I handed over a $50 note and received $20 change so there was no misunderstanding the amount I had been charged. I cannot believe that was the correct price.
For a business that claims to be Proudly locally owned, I do wonder what they have to be proud about. I would recommend going to the supermarket near the airport where many prices are not much higher than in NZ.

It is a small center as mentioned but has some great little things to check out. The Indian restaurant is great. Has the bank for cash out and I recommend having a look at the art gallery.

The township is very tiny and your choice is very limited indeed. The key places are the small supermarket where you will find all the basics. Check opening hours when you get there as these are limited. There is a liquor shop tucked off the road take your boarding pass and you will get duty free prices. No chemist at all. A couple of all purpose tiny shops. No fresh milk and any fish you buy will be frozen. A few good little cafe restaurants check the reviews we liked falala fa. And the Japanese on the edge of the town kaiika which also does wood fire pizza. The gas station is also just on the township edge. Visit the wharf while in town too . We heard a new supermarket is being built opposite the airport so that will be great for tourists and locals.

Aloft is a tiny town with very little in the way of shops. There is a supermarket a couple of hundred metres north of the main centre and 2 dairy type shops, a bottle store that sells duty free, a couple of food places. Also a tourist centre, police station, a back packers, covered market (only open for a few short periods each week) and kiwibank. Joined to the supermarket there is a general store that sells a few hardware type things. I am not sure where you would buy household items or clothing on Niue. It is definitely not a shopping destination! A few hundred metres south there is another shop that has an Air NZ travel agent and I think it also must arrange importing and shipping of larger items. The only petrol station on Niue is also just south of the centre.
To be honest when we drove through the centre the first time on the way from the airport I didn't even notice it!

Definately worth knowing where this spot it and list most travellers it can be easy to pass by without recognising it's value and worth, particularly if it's outside trading hours.
Kiwibank offers good trading hours Monday - Friday hours 8.30am to 4pm and is handy if you need get cash or break down your $50 into change which many of the local stores and home traders prefer. Also if your a traditional postcard traveller this is the place to purchase stamps and post.
Taoke Print is a must stop for the traditional holiday t-shirt, hat or sweatshirt, excellent quality, very well priced with warm friendly service.
Gills indian restaurant is also in the this block as with the gallery of Mark Cross [amazing work] and there a number of little diaries for those last minute food purchase and stock up on a lovely cool drink.
Well shaded, plenty of parking, central grassed area is a good spot to eat your lunch and relax while planning your next destination.

Group of small shops opening at a variety of times - not always times that are listed.
Post office, small supermarket, bakery, Niue Telecom and a couple of gift shop type places. Indian restaurant also. Small playground in the middle plus a couple of tables and chairs.

The Commercial Centre is based around a quadrangle with a number of small businesses selling every thing from groceries and prepared food, to telecomms & internet services, souvenirs and haircuts! The sole bank, Kiwibank and the post office are also located there too. Best find for me was the tiny Tahiono Gallery which showcases local artists, including internationally renowned painter Mark Cross.

Hi
I'm travelling there in June/July this year. Do you recall if they sell any rum?
Thanks so much

We only went to the Telecom office to use wifi. There are small shops there and I think a small liquor store. I don't believe this island is known for rum. It was not highlighted in anything we saw.
