Tremendous resource for tips on places to go and information. We wondered whether the road to the Bristlecone Forest would be passable and got great advice. As a result had a wonderful experience. Friendly and welcoming!

We were pleasantly surprised by the Bishop Visitor's Center. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and were able to answer questions as well as direct us. There are also items for sale which can be quite good quality.

This place is a must stop if you're in Bishop. Great information on local hikes, food, etc. and cool gifts/novelties. Joe is an absolute gem. My car broke down in town and he was so amazing helping me locate mechanics, rides around town, and even a tow back to San Diego. I highly recommend stopping in and meeting Joe.

Stopped to get advice for the area. Helpful free maps of Inyo and Mono counties outlining a lot of things to do. Helpful knowledgable staff. Also small shop with nice souvenir items.

Well Worth a Visit

We just stopped in for quick look, but spent over an hour getting far more information than we expected and terrific advise on things to do in the area. Our brief visit far exceeded expectations. Well worth a stop.

Joe and Joyce we so helpful giving us options to enjoy our stay with three small children in this beautiful piece of CA. They took their time to understand what we might be interested in and gave very specific and spot on recommendation for what to do during our stay. This was the last leg of an extended spring break vacation for us which actually came about due to an unexpected change in plans. So when we found ourselves in Bishop without any previous planning the expert advise Joe and Joyce were able to provide really put the icing on the cake!

Hit the Motherload when Joe answered the phone!

Joe at the Chamber of Commerce is an amazing resource!
We had planned to backpack near Lake Sabrina but the Creek fire had erupted the day before and I needed information so we could make a decision about cancelling. I needed "eyes on the street" info and resources to help us decide. Joe had developed a tutorial that included valuable links to web cams all over the Sierra. It was exactly what I was looking for. He walked me through the whole thing and explained how I could use the information. He also gave me names of businesses to call that were close to the trailhead. Ultimately we decided to cancel our trip. It was the absolute right decision. The next day Joe emailed me an alert from the Forest Service saying they were temporarily closing Southern California National Forests including Inyo National Forest. They also listed restrictions on other areas.

Joe saved us a 13 hour round trip drive and saved the day. What an amazing service especially during these crazy times.

So thankful!

We visited the park and visitor center while in Bishop visiting our daughter. She was teaching a young group at "Wild Roots Day School". The park is beautiful and the visitor center was open at that time. An older gentleman gave us some interesting insights into the area. It was a highlight of our visit to Bishop.

Joe is the best visitors center guide I've ever met. I've stopped by or called this center for years to get information about the area that is usually not available anywhere else. Joe knows the ins and outs of the region, gives super relevant tips and advice, and has inspired a couple adventures that I'll never forget. Thank you Joe for sharing your passion with us!

It a small town with lots of interesting and beautiful places to see near by,i love going to bishop and i have been there 5 times and i will go again .
