This admirable bluestone church was transported to this location in the 1930s, from Carlton, where it had been over-run by industrialisation. St Andrews was initially a Presbyterian Church, and later joined the Uniting Church of Australia. The church is at the corner of Burke Rd and Malvern Rd, in the pocket suburb of Gardiner, which takes in small portions of East Malvern and Glen Iris. St Andrew's has an impressive organ. It also has an active Indonesian congregation.

A gothic revival church that was originally situated on rathdowne st carlton. The predecessor of this building was called the gaelic church due to the parishioners being the gaelic speaking highlanders of victoria. In 1855 the parishioners welcomed a new church building called St Andrews. In 1938 due to the increasing industrial nature of Carlton, the church was closed. Rather than seeing their church demolished, the church parishioners offered their church to Gardiner so their church would be reconstructed and enjoyed anew. they also offered the Gardiner community a loan of 2,000 pound. In 1938, the church stones were taken down and transported to Gardiner. In June 1939 the foundation stone was laid. While the form of the church is the same parts of the interior are different all together. A example are the windows which come from many different sources- two of the windows were taken from the former wesley church on burke rd Glen Iris. The roundels (decorative portion of windows) were installed in 1985, while 2 other windows were gifts from the Ewing memorial church and were installed in 1940. The pews though are from the original site in Carlton. It's fitting that a church that features parts of other churches is now the spiritual home of an Indonesian congregation that used to be based at the Mulgrave Uniting Church
