I wrote a review a few minutes ago but want to add a few words about the need for assistance and compassion from employees toward those in wheelchairs and using walkers. Many of the disabled are still able to ride some of the rides, tho they probably shouldn't. 😬 But it's an amusement park and it would be such a waste not to enjoy some of them. With that being said, I did receive assistance from some of the employees which was a plus, but the lines for the food and drinks was miserable...and they didn't help even when asked. Some of the ride entrances and exits could use more adaptation. Thanks. But all-in-all it was a fun day.

I brought my family to Kentucky Kingdom this past weekend from Evansville, IN on 8/26/23 as we had never been. When we arrived I had to pay $50 extra for Kentucky State Fair tickets just to park, which was not listed on their site, it only had there may be parking delays. I find this highly unethical to treat guests in this manner since I had already paid for all our tickets plus paid for 2 nights at a hotel nearby. People with park tickets should not have been required to pay that additional fee. Also their site eludes to water stations and free sunscreen which I only found one place in Hurricane Bay to fill up water and did not see any sunscreen. The pools had not been cleaned out so there was a lot of debris.

We have season passes that allows you to invite friends. We drove from Indiana. Our parking is supposed to be included with our “diamond pass.” The state fair was in the parking area and we were charged $10 per person to park. That was $50 for teens that we did not anticipate.

The rides are extremely slow because limited, unskilled teen staff who would rather be doing other things. Several rides and the lazy River shut down because of staff shortages.

Pop and ice machines were out of products midday with no thought of refilling. The park looks tired and old. A pure revenue grab without reinvestment.

We will spend our time and money elsewhere.

We just went Saturday & Sunday for this past weekend for my sons birthday (6) we had 8 of us 4 adults & 4 kids.
First kentucky Kingdom made a mistake by offering a two day pass still with our hotel even tho they were suppose to not offer it I guess, they went ahead and granted us the passes since we already had paid in full days in advance.
This was my first time as well going & I won’t be back!

They had half the water park closed off due to “short staffing” on Saturday then Sunday had it opened but then the other water slides on opposite side were shut down!

Drinks aren’t free you have to buy a souvenir cup then pay $1 for every refill & half the machines carbonation was off or they ran out of ice & the worker said once I’m out im out I can’t refill it, like what?

then most of the dippin dots locations were closed or out so we had to be redirected to the other stand that was also not open

Some of the rides also were not running in the park & weren’t listed as not running on their website

I just think it’s ridiculous to keep charging people the same price as other people who get to have the full experience, it should be stated on what’s not running & why ahead of time! Instead of showing up & 20 rides aren’t available

I felt we got jipped when we all work hard as well & went to have a good time & the best thing about the trip was our family birthday dinner at marks feed store.

We have small children so we had to rotate with adults watching the kids while the other one went on rides they couldn’t, & so we didn’t get to do that all in one day then the next day the others were shut down so we never got to even go on em! I’m just mad about the whole situation so go somewhere else where your money will pay for you to actually go on the rides!

The mission statement of Hershend Entertainment is, "Herschend family entertainment is dedicated to creating and sustaining welcoming and wholesome destinations filled with adventure and memory-making fun." Unfortunately the management and park failed to live up to that mission statement durning my recent visit. I visited the park after not going for 2 years and I was shocked. Operations were terrible! It took an average of 5 minutes to dispatch Lighting Run and that was with 2 trains. In other words the 2nd train was stuck in sun baking while staff slowly checked the station train restraints. 20 min wait for the 5d movie and about 7 to 10 seats broken with signs on them. Oh , and you even have to watch a commercial for park passes before you get to see the movie. Now mind you the dry park side was almost empty so wait times should've been low. Rides such as Cyclos, T3, Blue Beards Bounty, DeepWater Dive, Mega Wedgie, River Rapids, Deludge were only a few of the many standing but not operating rides. Ride ops seemed less concerned about the guest experience than they were with hating their life. The park seems concerned about removing legacy rides and having an overall empty but pretty looking park. There is a distinct corporate sterile vibe to which I found unsettling. I was overall expecting more and left disappointed. There is a noticeable attempt to green up the park but management seems to have focused on greenery and forgot what made KentuckyKingdom great in past. Sure there are over 70 rides and attractions as the park likes to boast but you'll notice most are standing and not operating. I only hope that management will bring a unique theme in soon with an addition of several flat rides and multi generational attractions not shows! It should be noted that there is a waterpark side to the park but it was understaffed with several rides not open on a 80 plus degree day. If want to experience a park stripped of its character and charm go to Kentucky Kingdom.
There is certainly room for doing better, but until the park does I think I'll spend my money at Kings Island and Holiday World. Is it to soon for a Save My Park campain? 🤔

We had a good time, but I’m not likely to go again. We sat 2.5 hours in traffic that morning trying to get in. Eventually, traffic cops came and helped direct the flow. GPS does not take you to the right entrance. Free drinks, but drink stations were far and few in between and rarely had ice. Little signage in general and paper maps aren’t offered.

Gold Pass is a waste of money! We just returned from a family trip to Louisville. We spent two days at Kentucky Kingdom, and prior to our trip we purchased Gold Passes, so we could get the free bring a friend tickets and free drinks w/the souvenir cups. The passes are digital, and I was told that we could get an actual card at guest services when we came. However, the employee at guest services stated that they were out of cards. I then asked about the souvenir cups, and was told that I had to buy one then I would get free refills. I knew this wasn't true, but I didn't want to argue with a teenage employee. I went to the drink stand and got a paper cup for drinks, and they were out of lids; plus, they were out of Pepsi & lemonade at 11am when the park opened. Every drink place we went to throughout the day was out of multiple drinks. Why offer free drinks when you are consistently out of most of them. Multiple rides were not even open and multiple rides broke down while waiting in line. Money would be more wisely spent at Holiday World or Kings Island!

Had a great time at Kentucky Kingdom! We were there from open to close, and rode everything at the park (and water park) at least once, several things we rode multiple times.

Only two complaints:
1. On one of the water rides while waiting for rafts, the attendant would let people get out of the landing pool and get right back in line instead of passing the raft to the long line of people waiting.
2. There were very few concession stands open.

This is a nice, smaller park that is really two parks - an amusement park and a water park but all is included with one admission. The amusement park has a couple of good coasters, a huge Ferris wheel and several carnival rides. There is a motion/movie ride that shows a movie from Legoland, which seemed odd. This ride could use some updating.

The park is very clean and the rides seem very well maintained, unlike my impression when it was a Six Flags park years ago. The Herschend family company is in the second year of ownership and is doing a great job managing the property. However, there is one area with a Wooden Shoe swing ride that is closed and all of the shops and buildings are closed. It’s in a main part of the park with probably the best themed buildings. Hopefully that will reopen in the future.

The water park is really good with a lot of slides, two wave pools and two “lazy river” attractions. There is a good children’s play area, too. Again, all well maintained.

The negatives include food offerings - only fast food, salads are advertised but not available. Dollywood, owned by the same company, has much more food variety so maybe that will improve in the future at Kentucky Kingdom. They do offer cinnamon bread, like at Dollywood, but it was served cold and didn’t taste freshly made.

Another positive was a really good fireworks display, and I understand this is the first time in park history that fireworks have been shown. It’s only on weekends in July but maybe that will be expanded in the future.
