Go! Bring cash, and donate in the donation box. Bring some snacks and drinks and enjoy a lunch at one of the many picnic tables watching the peacocks walk by. This is a real animal sanctuary and because of that you get an up-close experience that is surreal. You can tell the animals are loved and taken great care of, super friendly! Bring a head of lettuce and share it with whomever visits you. Pigs, goats, bears, a wolf (she’s beautiful), crocodiles, a reptile house that’ll surprise you, miniature horses, llama/alpaca mix, the list is endless and they all fit together!

P.S The donkey likes orange peels!
~ Will be back a lot. You’ll fall in love with the animals! This is such a gem here in Cumberland! Absolute must!~

Believe it or not this zoo has been around since 2003 and I had never been out there and I live in the area. I ended up going for the first time this past Sunday July 4th and glad that I did! Will definitely come back and send some friends and family to see it as well. It's not the fanciest zoo, so when you come don't expect it to be like Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Hershey, San Diego...etc. it's more intimate than most zoo's, you get to pet about half of the animals there and they're all rescues, they have plenty of food around and are very well taken care of and they're loved by the owner, Bob. That man loves those animals so much and they really love him too, they get all excited and come around when they see or hear Bob's voice! Bob talked to us and showed us around a little bit and while he was showing us around he was talking to the animals which got very excited to see him and were happy and curious to see us too. The goat, emu and the lama were very friendly and gentle around us. My most favorite part was seeing the peacocks, they're so beautiful and were not afraid of us when we walked by them, we were less than a foot away from them. Another interesting thing was that most of the animals were in the same area together and not separated and they got along real well. There are cats and when I say cats I mean a cat you would have in your house or barn roam around the zoo, also friendly. This one cat loves to spend time close to the Arctic Fox's enclosure and if you walk by the cat to look at the fox, it will get closer to the enclosure and watch your every move as if it were protecting the fox. I highly recommend anyone who reads this to visit this zoo, you will have a fantastic day. It's a shame that it won't be around much longer when PETA removes all the animals. They've already taken 3 animals Lion, and 2 Tigers last year, those animals only knew Bob and the volunteers there at the zoo and to be taken away from their one and only real home! This zoo is not what PETA or any news outlet says it is...100% NOT A HELL HOLE!!!

I have visited this zoo several times and each time the owner gave us a personal tour of the whole zoo,
he absolutely loves his animals and so do the volunteers I witness working there. Just because they CANNOT afford fancy holdings for the animals and have people paid to constantly preen the animals is ok guess what everyone these are mostly wild animals and would not have such preening in the wild anyway! I cant believe some of the ignorant reviews on here. This is why the poor owner has been sued multiple times, just for trying to rescue animals. The animals were happy and engaging, we had a blast! I had to drive 2 hours to get there but its well worth it for my daughter and Id rather given my money to this rescue rather then go to a zoo. The people on here complaining I'm sure you know nothing about animals.

This zoo is home to a variety of animals rescued from different situations with no place to go. This is not a traditional zoo and does not have a lot of funding. Instead, it is a local conservation effort run by a non-profit under the loving direction of Bob. It is not shiny and pretty, but the animals have lots of space and are well taken care of and loved. While some people criticize having animals in zoos, once they are in captivity, they can't be released to the wild. Places like this give the animals an option to live and for local school children to learn more about animals and conservation in their own community. Keep up the good work!

the tri state zoological park is one of the worst places ever!
my oppinon it should be closed , it is dirty and terrible for animals they neglect them and the animals don't have the right treatment and care, i personally believe that all the animals in this zoo should go to a better and bigger natural habitat sancutary where they can get the care that they need. Please do not go here and contribute to what they are doing , animals were not put on this planet for our entertainment.

I watched Bob anticipate the evening coming on& my son's reaction to his first roar...asking if my then 5 year old knew what nocturnal meant...asked if he knew the purpose of a roar asked my son if he thought he would rather see a lion& be far away or know it was close& not see it. Boo roared almost on queue, hung out close to the fence. Others came Boo edged back Bob expertly steered them towards the birds. He explained to my son that wild is wild. He alluded to things with my 10 year old niece when I saw it as an opportunity to bring up the inevitable Bob said tell them without the words... LIFE ENRICHING ZOO!

Dirty. Neglected animals. Smells like feces. Being sued by authorities for violating Endangered species Act. Lack of nutrition and water.
I would like to think the owner meant well but has not lived up to standards these animals deserve

Looking for something fun for the grandkids to do while visiting out of state. What a great experience. The staff was so friendly and full of information. It was funny how all the bears and tigers where hiding in the heat of the day but as soon as they heard there owner Bob they came right out to say hello. If you are looking for all the fancy stuff you see at a big zoo you won't see it here.Honestly just as fun .This is a Rescue Zoo and they are non profit. Thanks Bob and Staff
