Wonderful host & wine!
sept. 2019
A group of us visited the vineyard one day and we are very glad we did. The owner took us on a short tour and explained the whole process and the differences between the grapes and wines. It was very informative and fun! I thought their wines were terrific. Pricier than others, and worth it. Humble winery and well worth the visit. Thank you, Maple Ridge, for a lovely day!

Someone’s home - ish
avr. 2019 • En solo
This winery is small and in a converted garage, as someone who was in the area solo I wasn’t super comfortable with the feeling I was in someone’s house.

Not a lot of options for sweet wine lovers, however the holiday red was nice.

They operate as a wine “club” where you pledge to purchase so much wine for a certain time and you then get it at a cheaper price. .. or you can purchase it as a “non member” rate

The service was friendly

Great small time establishment

This I thought was a new winery. We've been to the area 3 years in a row. We never heard of this place. We checked the place out. It's different. It's attached to their house. It's a small area where you can sample wine, and relax a little bit.

I had a conversation with the locals about the Cavs Basketball. When you ask for the wine they seemed really confused and kept looking at their sheet to see where it was located, and if a bottle was opened.

The amount of wine they provide to you for wine tasting is a lot. They really take care of you. We purchased 2 bottles that were nearly $70. The wine is good, but a little on the pricey side for the area. Overall I was happy with my experience.

Thank you so much for joining us at the tasting room. We are glad you enjoyed your experience! Yes, we are very small, but have been open since 2001. We started planting our vineyard in 1996. We are a family run, business designed after the small vineyard/wineries we visited in Northern Italy. Besides our business partners, our children, siblings and even 80+ year old parents help around the vineyard and in the winery. Come visit again

Yes, we got pitched to be in the wine club pretty much before we had a good chance to taste the wine. $40+ for Ohio wine seems a little steep while we are told others don't really know how to make wine. Nice place maybe for the unknowing. Not much atmosphere. $15 a glass for tastings. We won't be back.

Thank you for your review of our winery; we always appreciate your feedback. We do take great pride in our wines and have a passion for outstanding dry wines. Our wines are produced with no automation and with extremely intense hands-on processes (this is expensive). So, we are a bit expensive; however, you did not mention our wines that are only $12.50 per bottle (there were several on the tasting schedule). True we do offer some expensive European style wines which are costly to make, and do not suit the "sweet" taste of the general public. Our wines are made for discriminating palates and we use the finest French and Hungarian oak barrels. Also, I am aware that several wineries in the area have a collection of wines in the $40 price range we are not alone here. Wines in this price range are for those who appreciate dry food style wines, not the party sipping wines which have their place, just not so much in our winery. Again, I appreciate your review and all is true except for one statement. I am certain no one stated that other wineries do not know how to make good wines. Every winery in Northeast Ohio is making good wines, and each winery is reaching out to a customer whose palate appreciates their product. We do have $2 a glass wines, but if you want our Grand Reserve Wines which are aged for up to 2 years in $2000 French Oak barrels, then $18 a glass is a reasonable price. In addition to that, we cut our yields on our best vineyard grapes to a mere 1000 pounds of grapes to an acre to make the wines that attract our target customer (most wineries attempt to get up to 16,000 pounds per acre). In Canada, we are beginning to see some $100 bottles of wine; the point is this: It is all about your palate and what you like to drink and your budget. We will have several nice wines in your budget range during Tannenbaum Trail. Please come back and visit us then. Thanks for your review. Jim Iubelt, Owner

I enjoy dark rich reds which they have. Staff and owners are always inviting and very informative about their wines. They have all varieties of wine. It's on a farm and horses add to the ambience of your visit. Love the dogs and cats also.

All about the Wine!
sept. 2016 • En couple
Been meaning to try this vineyard for a while but our schedule never worked out. Finally made it and could not have been more pleased. The wines are outstanding! The facility is fine but not spectacular like many of the wineries in the area. This is not a stop for sweet wine lovers (there is an abundance of those places in the area). It is also not for someone who is not willing to pay for quality wine. Prices are higher then almost all other wineries in the area but the quality of the wine is better then almost all other wineries. If you want wine as close to what you can buy in France and Germany, this is the place for you. We loved it!

Overpriced!
déc. 2015 • En couple
We visited as part of the Tannenbaum Trail. Winery is a converted garage. Wines overpriced given the quality. Very pushy salesman at the counter.

Dear NicoleAlyse, Thank you for stopping at Maple Ridge Vineyard and for your review. We always appreciate any feedback that we get. Our winery is focussed on the highest quality possible of Cabernet, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and several other French grapes. We have gone through great trouble and expense to purchase only the best grafted vines, use only manual labor to manage the vineyard and the cellar, and purchase the highest quality of stainless steel tanks from Italy and small Oak barrels (225L) from Bourgogne, France. We bottle using the highest quality (and most expensive) corks available so that our old world style wines can be cellared for years. We discard nearly 80% of our potential harvest in order to achieve the intensity that our wines deliver. Equivalent wines from Europe typically are 300% to 400% more expensive than our wines. This results in our wines being more expensive in our tasting room than most of the other wineries in the area. Those who produce similar wines are charging higher prices also. Those who produce a selection of sweet wines (especially those from American grapes) charge significantly less for their wines. It is always beneficial to talk to the people behind the tasting room bar and ask where the wineries are located that please your palate. Again, thanks for your review. Jim Iubelt, Owner.
