Most cruise terminals and related docks are pretty poor--dirty, confusing, inefficient, and filled with far too many vendors selling the same stuff as everyone else. In all our travels, we have to endure them, but this is an exception. The visual appeal is wonderful--it makes sense and it "fits together" to make it easy for everyone. The number of "hawkers" is at a minimum and they are friendly and respectful. The shops are clean and well identified as to what they are. Most important, the tour meeting points are easy to find, and the busses have ample parking space. By the way, they actually have some shaded areas to meet.
It really looks as if someone actually planned this place & space--what a novel approach!!! The historic buildings have been repurposed in a beautiful manner. The shops are all laid out in a thoughtful manner. The signage all fits together and is clear. The tour directions are obvious! The meeting places can handle large groups and many busses at one time.
There appears to be adequate space to handle 4 ships in port, but there is a bit more walking for the ships that are west two "close in slots" on both sides of the old terminal building on the east "point" of the port--which is the entrance and exit to the ship passengers. Allow adequate time to get off the ship and to walk to the tours on the southwest side of the very large open area in the middle of the port facility--which is an attractive area that makes the place look so much better than most ports.
We did not have much time to get to many of the shops, but we did like the ones we did visit. The staff is friendly and seem interested in doing a decent job of selling. We did not sense and "high pressure" tatics! Whis his an nice change of pace.

We loved this port, we were warned by many cruisers ahead of time that the port was full of aggressive vendors, but we did not find that to be true at all. It was a beautiful and clean port with many friendly vendors and shops. There were entertainers performing as well, which was wonderful for our children to experience another beautiful culture. We enjoyed it very much and left with tons of Jamaican treasures and goodies for fair prices.

We were originally going to skip this port stop based on the travel advisory and reviews we had seen online. Once we were docked we looked down from the ship and saw how nice it looked and how calm it was (no vendors flocking to the incoming tourists), we decided to head down with the kids. We are so glad we did. The kids had a great time browsing the vendor stalls and everyone there was so nice. Of course everyone was trying to make a deal but nobody was pushy like we have experienced in other places. You could also grab a drink and walk around. We decided to follow the signs to Red Stripe Beach, but doing so stumbled upon Clubhouse Brewery right there in the port. We had a great time chatting with the owner and trying the Jamaican patties. We didn't venture far but the whole group had a memorable and enjoyable time. We felt safe and welcome the entire visit to the port.

BUYER BEWARE!!! Falmouth was a lovely port and we enjoyed conversations with many local people. There was live music playing and we couldn't help but dance in the plaza. However, do not make any purchases at "DIAMONDS FOREVER"! My husband and I had picked out an aquamarine ring for my birthday and when we went back to make our purchase, Jerry, talked us into buying a Tanzanite ring as well. Both rings were supposed to be white gold with genuine diamonds and gemstones. Both rings were supposed to be sized but were only stretched and weren't sized as promised. Two days later, we took the rings to a jewelry repair place in Nassau, Bahamas to have them sized correctly and we were told that the Tanzanite ring was set in silver, not white gold, had CZs instead of diamonds, and the Tanzanite was most likely lab created. Had Jerry been an honest salesman and told us what the ring was made of, we would not have made the purchase. Jerry charged us 7 or 8 times what the ring is worth! Shame on us for not looking at the ring more carefully, but shame on Jerry for his deception and for stealing our hard earned money. I have called and left a message with him (the only way I know to contact him) but he has not returned my call. Do not shop at "DIAMONDS FOREVER" in the beautiful Falmouth Port in Jamaica!!!

Had a wonderful experience with Rory & his pedicab right at the cruise center! He took us to Kimbo Pot Restaurant nearby (outstanding jerk chicken) & then took us back (with historical references along the way) to the cruise ship. Really pleasant experience & wonderful lunch

Port was ok. Went on early morning excursion came back to wander around the port but everything was very expensive. I grabbed some coffee as I planned to and got back on the ship. Prices are extreme and locals unwillingness to hagle for a reasonable price. Disappointing..other folks who wandered outside the gates said it wasn't worth it

Cruise port ok overall with many tourist and jewellery shops. Very clean and well kept.
One major complaint was quality of live music. Sat in afternoon on balcony overlooking terminal. Live music was very loud, repetitive and not at all tuneful. Seemed to consist of very heavy drumming with some poor vocals. No one stood around listening. Could have been so much better and entertaining.

We had several people warning us about the area of Falmouth in terms of safety (including the staff on our cruise ship). Since we had two small children we decided not to risk it. However we didn’t want the trip to pass without at least putting our feet on Jamaican soil. Therefore walking around the port was a decent compromise. Vendors here were friendly and we were able to enjoy some good food and a red stripe. It was a fun quick visit!

Very artificially curated shops and artisanal stands, department store vibe. It’s like shopping in a gated community. Sadly, we were unable to venture (couple) outside port area very far, CONSTANTLY BEING HARRASSED by AGGRESSIVE LOCALS, asking to be your best friend and show you around etc. Some shop owners in the port area were straight up decietful. Lady wanted $15 for an item, didn’t want to budge and three shops later same item (all made in China) for $5. I’m ok for markups, but 3x is pushing it.
I was part of a cruise ship but unless you have a pre booked excursion FAR from the blight of Jamaica (3rd time in Jamaica, this is disgraceful treatment of tourists-shame on Jamaican tourisme board for being so inactive): DO NOT bother going beyond the closed gates of the port. It is not safe, people being constantly aggressively harassed by locals. I suspect thousands of ppl descend from cruise ships and just take ALL their tourist money beyond Falmouth like dunns river falls and other excursions. It would had been nice if cruiseline would had disclosed: do an excursion or stay within the secure port area: do not venture outside. Pity, I was really looking forward just strolling around Falmouth and take a good four hours to get to know the city. Hugely disappointed. And again, shame on Jamaican authorities for sitting on the hands and closing their eyes. Shameful.

Our ship docked here and it was a good place to pick up souvenirs of Jamaica. It’s a complete tourist area - a quick look outside the gates will show you adjacent areas of poverty. But as a tourist it was very good. The sheaf in the shops were all very friendly (of course - that’s their business) and it was a pleasant way to spend half an hour. Nice photo opps too.

How accessible is the area. My daughter is wanting to cruise and we are looking at what ports are like and activities
Rédigé le 30 novembre 2022
The port itself is accessible, tours are run by companies providing transportation. Foot traffic outside the gates of the port are rather unsettling. From the moment of crossing the street we were met with demands for money to ensure we would not be bothered. The portion of the city we saw was dirty, unkept, rampant drug use evidence. I do not plan on visiting again.

Is the love lock sign still in the cruise port? We’ve not been since 2019, and I’d love to add my lock.

Is there a beach within walking distance from the port? And is it safe to go?
Rédigé le 15 mars 2019
NO...Based upon recent events there last year we stay in the port area. Be careful. If you venture out we strongly suggest you go with the cruise ship tour.

Is there a grocery/liqueur store near the port where I can purchase some Wray & Nephew rum.
Thank you.
Rédigé le 14 mars 2019
Yes, there are a number of shops just after you disembark that can meet you shopping needs for rum. Enjoy!

How far from the Falmouth Cruise ship docking port is the Falmouth All Age School? Is it within walking distance? or Driving? How far in blocks or miles? Thank you!! :)
Rédigé le 11 mars 2019
Hi, it's about a 15 minute walk from the cruise terminal. As you come out the cruise terminal turn right and follow the road past the main town hall/court house and the school is on the right. You can hire a guide outside the port who will give you a walking tour of Falmouth taking in the historical sites and the school.

Are there any good cigar shops in the port area (Falmouth)
Rédigé le 6 janvier 2019
Good afternoon I dont smoke cigarettes or cigars but i like the aroma a cigar gives...My advice is to ask the barman at the Spice Kitchen and bar. If anyone can help i think it would be him..I got on well with them and found them informative
The spice kitchen is not far from the ship..Its a big open sided place with a distinctive signs ..Hope that helps.

Is it possible to buy a bottle of Sangster's Jamaica Rum Cream in the Falmouth Port?
Rédigé le 27 décembre 2018
Yes, definitely, this is the place to buy plenty of Jamaican rum cream

I saw in the reviews there was basket making, is this inside the port and is there a charge to participate. Also I would like to know if the trolley tour (1 hour) outside the gates is safe
Linda
Rédigé le 28 octobre 2018
I don't know about the trolley tour. The basket making is pretty informal by a small independent vendor. He was taking donations.

Is it possible to enter the store without cruise card id for alcohol purchase? We flew instead of cruise ship this trip.
Rédigé le 18 octobre 2018
I was never asked for my cruise ship ID in the stores, but we had to show it to security before entering the shopping area. I’m not sure if the shopping is reserved for the cruise ship passengers only or not.
Rédigé le 18 octobre 2018
I need a little clarification. Is the shop area at the Port of Falmouth only for the cruise ship passengers, or can I visit from one of the local resorts?
Rédigé le 7 février 2018
I was there in February and you had to show your cruise cards.
