This review is by a non-Bangladeshi tourist.
As you park your car or mini van, there are shops where you can make puchases for drinks and snacks. There is also a restroom in a restaurant, which the staff don't mind you using. You will be greeted with market traders all the way down to the beach/ water front. They dont bother you, and sell a variety of souvenirs, such as soap, tea, kids toys etc.
There are steps down to the beachy part, be wary, these are steep, and not baby pushchair friendly.
Once on level ground, it is covered in mini boulders, which are extremely difficult to walk over/on. You need sneaker like shoes. It's probably all in all a 10-15min walk to get to the waterfront.
There are boats which can be hired and shade under umbrellas and seats.
The beach has zorbs for families and kids, floaty tires that can also be hired.
The water is crystal clear and very beautiful
We went in early January and it was very warm. As soon as the sun begins to set, you need a jacket as it gets nippy.
The drive from Sylhet is comfortable and scenic.
Overall a good day out with kids, but can't spend many hours here as it gets boring.

Me personally didn't like this place too much. Jaflong is very dusty due to several stone mines. Boat rides are very popular to go around the river and watching the miner's hard work. A tribal village (which doesn't look so tribal actually) on the other river side can be visited as well.

The experience was great though the water level was low, missed boat ride but the place is awesome. If locals take a good care then it would lot more nicer. If anyone wish to go, please go at rainy season otherwise you will miss a lot.

The crystal clear water is beautiful. However this place has become so commercialised it’s ruining the beauty of the place. You are constantly harassed by photographers and then followed by the ‘transgenders’ asking for money. The scenery is nice and water is super cool and relaxing. It’s just the ignorance of people I’d destroying the place. So much waste everywhere. Still worth the visit. Be ready for a long hike to get to the actual water site though. Pack light.

The place has so much potential to be truly beautiful, needs major investment to bear the fruits of it until than it’ll be so so.
The stones are slippery so be extremely careful before stepping out into water.
The boat ride is nothing special just do a normal round on it, not the nonsense they propose to see the tea garden and the jomidar Bari, believe me your Bari is probably a lot better and nicer.

Visited this place expecting so much more but it’s very rocky and not very safe place for younger children as there is a long distance of walking & a boat ride to get there. Be careful and haggle with the boat men otherwise you will end up paying a lot more than you need to.

Jaflong has a river which has Bangladesh on one side and India on the other. Tons of rocks are extracted from this river to be used for industrial purpose. The drive to jaflong is very soothing. Though there are no restrooms along the way.
When in jaflong the tourists can hire local boats to have a cruise. It can cost around 800 to 1000 taka (not shared with others).

How can I get there?

The best way is to board on a bus which will take you to Sylhet, after reaching sylhet, if you want to enjoy the natural beauty then board on a local bus from Ambarkhana, or if you're on a hurry then take a CNG to Jaflong.
Distance information form Sylhet city to the places will be helpful to make a plan for the visitors. Like I cannot find how far the Bachnakafi from Sylhet city?
