Birishiri is a place of great beauty. You can see more than 10 different types colorful soil. There is a river by the side. The colour of water is greenish blue or mixed type. This place is good for travelling. But only one problem is the road condition is severely bad. But still I would like to recommend this place to visit!

Birishiri is a name of a place situated in Durgapur thana under netrokona district. whenever this name comes to my mind i want to forget that it exists in any geograpical land with name! when i go there i go through crowded places broken roads...when i am there i feel i am on a land of dream! such a place! such a beautiful place! in spring the place smiles green with a blue sky above and somesshosory meandering through hills and plain murmurring...china clay grins in the sun blazingly...gucchogram looks like dangling clouds. the hills seem to be sleeping in the stillness of the sky. i like to see people there but only the indigenous...

Its located a place called Bijoynogor. Beyond your imagination. You will see hills of ceramics stones - and lake. Color will amaze you. We went there by Motorcycle. We gone far more inside - pure wilderness. I have climbed a small mountain there. Note that - you have to cross a river to go there.

In spite of lack of transportation and bellow average accommodation, once you reach there you will thank yourself that you took all the hassles to go there. Specially the Emarald Lake (sometimes called Blue water lake), which is located in Durgapur, near the Indian border, is an absolute jem.

In last August, I went to Birisiri for a two days gap. The road was so bumpy all through the way. Our bus got stuck 14 kilometers away from Birisiri and it was 9 pm at night. I had to walk the way to reach my destination. It took me around 2.5 hours to reach my destination.

Its a very average place to visit... Birishiri is mostly known for the turquoise colored water, which is actually the water of the lime stone quarry, where lime stone is excavated from the ground... it is not really a tourist place but rather an excavation site and does not have ANY infrastructure to support tourism at all and travelling to the place is through private transport only. I guess the place has become famous due to the odd/rare color of the water of the quarry and thus, many people visit the place... however, from my personal experience, it is an underwhelming place to visit due to lack of tourism infrastructure and there is hardly any thing to do except for gazing at the turquoise colored water for 5-10 minutes!

Is it okay for a single woman traveler to go to Birishiri alone?
When is the best time to go there?
If I want to stay there overnight, where should I stay? Is there any contact no (mobile or land no) of YMCA in Birishiri?
How long does it take from Dhaka to Birishiri? Can I take overnight buses to save my time?
Thanks.
