Khoraha is referred to in the Avesta as "the place of the rising of the sun", as well as the "bay".The historic site of Khorah is one of the historic remains of the Parthian, Sassanid, Islamic and Seljuk times, and is 3,000 square meters in size.
From this historic site, only two columns consisting of six pieces of stone with a total height of eight meters, the remains of the crumbling columns, part of the stone walls, graves and works obtained in the six stages of the exploration of the area are left. This ancient site was explored for the first time by Nasser-al-Din Shah Qajar. Interestingly, there are pictures of this exploration in the Golestan Museum's Palace Archive.Khorahah, which was previously thought to be the remains of a temple or fire temple related to the Seluk period, based on the latest evidence, is a master's house built around the first century BC and has survived until the end of the Parthian period. The two-pillar characteristics of the space left behind and its similarity to the Greek architectural style have led archaeologists such as Hertzfeld to introduce it as a temple or fire temple of the Seleucid period. The construction of the Parthian period later used Sassanid rule by a group of industrialists, and finally, after the arrival of Islam, in particular during the period of the Ilkhanah, was a cemetery. This building differs from the point of view with works such as Persepolis, from the base of the pillar to the top in the form of an incomplete narrow groove and the surface of the cones is a scallop. By the year 378 AH, four pillars had been erected from the Corridor, two of which had been destroyed. The bases of these columns are of a very eastern style. The excavation and excavation that took place in the summer of 1955 in this area has been discovered in a number of pottery belonging to the Seljuk period. The excavations showed that the Khoraha building consists of three related buildings. The main building of the south constructions with columns, rooms and courtyard courtyard. The north building is connected to the main building from the south. It has rooms and a corridor, and has a large square room, which is a backyard. The Western building consists of a number of rooms and a hall.In 2005, archaeologists of the Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization conducted sixth stage exploration of the southeastern archipelago of Khorah area with an area of 600 square meters. At this stage, the skeletons and graves belonging to the Islamic period, clay objects, arches and rocky blades belonging to the Parthian period, stone walls, vaulted ceilings and a number of buried buildings were identified. Also, in 2010, the operation of organizing the historic site of Khorah was carried out. At this stage, the plot lines were read, slippery to guide the surface water and sidewalk with carpet bricks. Finally, the restoration of the remaining columns of the historic site of the Khorah area was carried out by controlling the chemical damage and deviation, as well as the removal of lichens. The first scientific exploration of this place was carried out by Dr. Leader in 1956 by the late engineer of the governor and then by a 20-year-old interruption in 1976, 1996and 2000.
The historic site of Khorah in 1931 with 131 was recorded as one of the national works of Iran.
