Excellent base for getting around Carrick, Slieve League, Teelin area. We took one of the apartments . Warm, neat bedrooms, large lounge and kitchen .. all facilities in place .. excellent shower facilities. Pleasant host on reception and a great mukti-cuisine restaurant in the same building. We had superb Indian meals and pizza. Hoping to get back sometime.
Pros Excellent base Apartment looked like it had been recently renovated Lots of space Good cooking facilities if you want to cook in Cons Reception is rarely manned. There was no one there on arrival. There is a tel number that you can call on the door although not all mobile telephones can call republic of Ireland numbers and also the reception in rural Donegal is iffy at the best of times. Went next door to the indian restaurant and they got in touch with the people that run the accomodation. Someone came quickly which was great. She was nice and friendly. The apartment did not have any cooking oil, washing up liquid, a dish cloth, scrubbing pads, anything to clean the counters, kitchen roll, something to cover your plate when using the microwave, tin foil for lining the cooker / grill etc. I would propose that all basic items are provided. It doesn't make sense having to go out to the corner shop and buy such things. Most places I stay in has the basics. Cleaning of apartments. This was not done. We could have benefited from someone coming in and replacing the towels and also leaving some more toilet rolls. Hot water. There was a fault on the boiler. One morning we did not have hot water. This was rectified but I noticed that the boiler was showing a fault sign 5 mins after we checked in. I am sure someone in the accomodation could have checked the apartment before checking us in. Also there was no dial on the boiler (broken off) so we couldn't control the boiler. Overall I would say this accomodation has potential to be something really good. They just need to focus on the small things. I would be inclined to give them another chance but on arrival go through everything immediately and let them know if there are any issues.…
Room was cramped in attic and not the one pictured that we thought we had chosen. Toilet seat entirely broken off, unwelcome surprise... No one at office at check In or check out, and no note or instructions. We didn't have working cell to get a number, had to go to restaurant next door and nice lady called a number she had. Bed was lumpy but at least no springs popping through.
Was up in a part of Donegal that I should know but don’t really and discovered a wee gem. An Sean Óstán on the Wild Atlantic Way. Now don’t get me wrong if you want a busy mad place this isn’t the accommodation you would be after but if you want a friendly welcome, a quiet space and you don’t want to break the budget but just have a base I don’t think you could go wrong here as it is all of the above. We we were welcomed, shown our rooms and given a key to come and go as we wanted, perfect. Thanks John.
