Stayed with my girlfriend here. Great location and breakfast, we felt safe and well catered for. Allan arranged some birdwatching boat trips for us and dropped us down to the pier and just couldn't have been more helpful. Fantastic views from the yoga/meditation platform. Fantastic host and place will be my go to place at El Paredon from now on.
Had the pleasure to spend 4 nights at Casa Macano on Paredon Beach. Stayed in a lovely suite with comfy bed w/ mosquito canopy, reading lamps, desk, chair, balcony with hammock + sea view + an awesome open to the sky bathroom with granite coutertop + walk in shower. The owner, Allan is a lovely guy + Maya Archeologist in his former life - who went out of his way to make our stay truly great! He offered to cook us a yummy made to order breakfast each morning featuring locally sourced home baked bread, organic eggs + some of the best egg dishes this side of heaven. The scrambled eggs + veggie omelette were world class! The small hotel has 2 charming staff who are always around to serve up a cool drink or just insure a safe + secure stay. We dont surf - but Paredon is populated by an energetic cadre of hard core, well tanned + ocerly tatooed surfers who brave the waves each am + pm. Allan, the owner is also an enthusistic surfer who can provide plenty of surfing tips + suggestions for the novice + pro alike. For our part we just whiled away the scorching days in our hammock, gazing out on the killer sea view from the newly completed 2 story yoga deck + strolled the beach at sunsets. Daytime temps here are intense + the sun + humidity are strong! Bring plenty of sun block, a big floppy hat and a desire to chill out in a major way! On our third day we got motivated to venture beyond the beach to the nearby sea turtle sanctuary which is reached via a really fun boat launch ride up a mangrove fringed river. The entire trip set us back Q250 - a great deal! Our host set us up with the boat guide - can’t remember his name -but he was great! The sight if huge sea turtles popping their heads up for air every few minutes was fascinating and a first for us - very special! Paredon Beach is not for the resort set, it’s a chill, laid back, small aldea / village - and wonderfully - only a 2 hr tourist shuttle ride from Antigua, transport cost was $9 per person/ each way which is a major deal in my book! Two thumbs up for this new lodge - my wife and I had a wonderful relaxing few days - and the owners’ wit, wisdom and helpfullness made it a memorable stay we wont soon forget! …
